Buy this, the one and only good QL season

My experience with Quantum Leap: I watched it a few times as a kid and I loved it. A couple of years ago I started buying the Dvds. Let me tell you that: The first season (with 9 episodes I think) is very very good. While not all episodes are excellent, it's an almost must-have season.
But after that, my god the series gets sooooo boring. I currently have watched ALL seasons, and I have to say, buy the first one but do not have high expectations for the rest (2-5). They are predictable and boring to death. Too bad too see a really good series to get ruined by weak storylines.

There is no greater impact on my formative yearsReview date: 2007-09-21 Rating: 10 out of 10Perhaps in reality it is a wistful reminiscence rather than a critical analysis of show that competes with more modern shows in the dvd market, but I cannot think of a tv series that had more of an impact on me growing up. Sensitive, thought-provoking, moralistic without being preaching, well-crafted, excellently told and superbly acted - it is a show that really feels as if it has depth and insight. It always gifted a sense that it was more than just 45mins of light-hearted story-telling. Across the 5 seasons, the characters developed into 3 dimensional, almost tangible entities. Al is perhaps the perfect example - until the episode where Sam finds himself in Vietnam as a photographer (some time in later seasons) all we have of Al is a vague feeling that there is more to him than bad suits and one-night stands. Nevertheless, we know that feeling is there. There are the light-hearted episodes but every so often, very often in fact, there is a belter leaving your heart wrought asundered - torn by emotion. The haunting soundtrack as Sam's wistful voiceover draws us into the psyche of the main protagonist is perfectly pitched. It is a show that was never afraid to tackle serious issues - mental handicap, domestic violence, crime and injustice, racism and so on. Yet is never did so in a superior or cheesy way but with circumspection and honesty. Scott Bakula and Dean Stokwell quite clearly loved doing Quantum Leap and their enthusiasm pervades every moment. There is, in my view, no better example of a show which relies so heavily and successfully on solid and genuine story-telling. It completely destroys anything that seeks to compete with it these days - there is simply nothing better available. Watch, delight, feel.Great show!Review date: 2006-08-03 Rating: 8 out of 10This show was one of my cult show and I had never seen the beginning. It is done now and I am so happy! It is still great and full of good feelings. Very intelligent and talented.
My favorites : Genesis (1), How the Tess Was Won, The Color of Truth, Play It Again, Seymour.Region 2 is the only way to view Quantum Leap!Review date: 2006-04-16 Rating: 10 out of 10March 1989 - May 1989 First things first, this is the COMPLETE first season of Quantum Leap. They're only nine episodes in season one and this is the only way to watch them. Americans they are usually the lucky ones! Well their dvd releases are normally far superior to ours (in extras ect...) this isn't the case with this series. They're episodes have been cut or at least some of the music and songs have! The region 2 release is the authentic version (the one you watched on BBC2 all those years ago. Every season on region one has music replaced to some degree why? I have no idea. It makes no sense if we can have the original music why can't they? Take the season 2 finale for instance M.I.A and the scene where AL dances with Beth, the song has been changed on the region 1 release but not on the English version. I repeat why? For once (concerning dvd releases)i'm glad we live in the UK! If you replace the music and some of the songs then you have a completley different scene and a different show! the director and the writers didn't intend Quantum Leap to be shown that way they intended it to be shown like this. To my American cousins boycott the region 1 release and buy this! Quantum leap is one of the best fantasy televison series ever and deserves to be treated with respect. Fortunately this three disc set is excellent and good value for money! Staring Scott bakula and Dean Stockwell it ran for five seasons. There isn't a bad episode in the entire run! Ie: obviously some episodes are better than others but every episode is watchable and that's rare in television. Guest stars for season one include Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives)

April 14, 1953 May 17, 1989Honest Review of Quantum Leap: Complete Season 1 DVDReview date: 2005-10-24 Rating: 10 out of 10For those who don't know, Quantum Leap was a popular televsion series throughout the 1990's. The central character is a time traveller who 'leaps' back into time to change history for the better. Season 1 naturally follows the beginning of the story, which is in 3 seasons. It is a thought provoking, emotional and enjoyable rollercoaster or a DVD.It is very easy to follow and understand. So don't let that put you off. I watched it when I was 10 and understood in perfectly. It was very enjoyable. This does not mean that it is childish in any way.
Overall this DVD is set at a great price. It is very enjoyable. Great for SciFi fans, but also equally as great for those of us that can't stand that intergalatic mumbo-jumbo.
I hope you find this review useful. If in any doubt read other reviews or simply purchase it. After all you can always return it if you chose to. The only bad thing is that after watching it, you will be back online ordering Seasons 2 and 3 from Amazon, which will cost you more money. However whats the point of money if your not going to spend it.
Thank You for reading this review I hope you enjoy it.
