a bit of a moan
Review date: 2006-12-06 Rating: 10 out of 10
I bought tthis disc expecting more than 3 specials on it. The price of the complete box set has just doubled overnight so I went for the christmas specials and the complete series boxes. How was I to know Dell and Rodders only did 3 christmas specials? One of my gripes with Amazon is that they never tell you what you are getting especially when it comes to buying box sets.
Moaning over Dell and Rodney will never be better.....

LAST BUT NO MEANS LEAST!!Review date: 2005-08-04 Rating: 10 out of 10I have to say that i finaly got around to ordering the final trilogy of OFAH and to be honest it got a lot of negative press that was not deserved.
It ties up a lot of lose ends of the show and even though painful as its a final goodbye to Del Rodney and the rest of the trotters and gang i feel that it was a good ending as we all know that all good things must and always come to an end.
Well the first DVD of the collection is called if they could see us now and starts of with Del and rodney visiting a barrister and telling the story of how they managed to lose their millions and we get a little look at them jetting off around the world via concorde.
Well all goes wrong as the stock market crashes and they lose everything except the flat as del brought it from the council.
The 2nd DVD in the collection called strangers on the shore deals with the sad death of Uncle Albert and Del and rodney travel to france to represent Albert for the HMS Cod reunion and del and rodney find out that uncle Albert was quite the ladies man.
On the way back Del aranges for Denzil and trig to be there with denzils lorry and load up with cheap booze but find out thats not the only surprise they bring back from France!!!.
The 3rd and final instalment is called sleepless in peckham and deals with the up and coming auction of the flat from under the trotters to pay the inland revenue what Del forgot to pay them when they had their money.
Anyway Denzil goes missing around the same time as Marleane and we wonder if they have run off together or has Boycie mudered his wife and buried her in the back garden?.
Rodney finds out Freddie the Frog was definatley his real father and him and cass finaly become parents.
John sulivan has done a great job finishing this series that first started the year i left school in 1981 aged 16 and 25 years later aged 40 i get to see the final saga of the trotters.
I really do think that this is it for the show as their is not anywhere else to go with it apart from downhill.
But i just have to say that damien was funny regardless of the negative stuff i read about his character i think he is typical of kids of his age in the UK i should know i have a son his age LOL.
But i do have to add that it just wasnt the same with out Uncle Albert and with out him i think it really was time to wind up the show
Also I think it was a great end to a great and long running British classic.
Thanks mr sullivan and thanks again to Amazons fantastic and propt service to this Ex Pat in the USA.ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES XMAS SPECIALSReview date: 2005-06-13 Rating: 10 out of 10It was always going to be a difficult job finishing this series ,having run for over 20 years, but who could think of a nicer ending. Even when rodney finds he is dels half brother ,i think sullivan is saying you are still a family ,if you act as one ,and think you are one. What an incredible list of supporting characters over the years cassandra racquel trigger denzil boyice /marlene mike granddad / uncle albert the driscoll brothers etc . thanks john sullivan loved your work, and i think you could not have ended it any better. The best episode of the three is "Strangers on the shore"Review date: 2005-04-04 Rating: 10 out of 10"Strangers on the shore" is when Del and Rodders get invited to a reunion in France for u Albert. their in a cafe and see people who look almost like albert. del has agreed to meet up with densil and trigger to buy some cheap booze. rondey doesnt know this. their loading up and find they have 30-60 minutes to get to the ferry so del drives the forktruck and loads booze up. little does he know that the store stacker is in the back of densils lorry trapped. they are unpacking it back in peckham, dels garage and find the french man. anyway he stays with del and rondey. they tell cassandra and raquel that he is called gary and "Gary" as he is now known cant speak any english so picks up the word gary. "Gary"gets back to france and tells police everything that happened in peckham. del, rodney are known by french police etc as the gary gang.
this is truly the funniest out of the three. it is a must buy. even though it is shown on tv occasionaly if you buy it on dvd you can play it over and over again and it will newver lose its funness.
ofah is the best comedy around and probably will always be.trotter treatsReview date: 2005-01-07 Rating: 8 out of 10the final 3 episodes of the best sitcom in british history.i am a huge fan of the show and i think these 3 episodes are good old fashioned fun.the first episode if they could see us now is a bit ropey but non the less is enjoyable and has some great moments and some great belly laughs.the second strangers on the shore is in my opinion the best out of three with a story like the specials of old and with some magnificent writing from john sullivan who is a genius.the third and final episode is signing off the series which ties up some loose ends which is what this one set out to do and again there will be moments when you just cant help but laugh at the great writing.a fitting end to a truly great show i think some of the reviews have been extremly harsh but i mainly feel thats because the 96 trilogy was so so good peoples expectations were so high but if you forget the comparisons there is so much you can enjoy from these 3 episodes which i think are as good as most other fools episodes personally i feel if your a fan of the show you will enjoy this box set bonjour!
