the first two series are great. the third is ok. the problem is while it did get more serious in the second series it still worked. the third series was too serious and therefore got more depressing than funny alot fo the time. the vacuum cleaner scene is hilarious though. i cant decide which series is best out of the first two. one scene that sticks in my mind is the reservoir dogs re-enactment by matthew. it is hilarious. i love how he cuts the teddies ear off and then sticks it back on but on top of its head instead of the right place.
buy it for the first two series!

Brilliant stuff!Review date: 2006-05-15 Rating: 10 out of 10Game On is one of the best ever sitcoms to have been broadcast on UK TV and you owe it to yourself to get all three series in the boxset.
No idea what Osmarporter is on about. He clearly is quite mad!Excellent stuffReview date: 2005-04-24 Rating: 10 out of 10Arguably the funniest thing on TV. Some may call it mediocre, rubbish even, but not me, I think it's genius. Recommended.Brilliant, hidden gem of a showReview date: 2004-12-31 Rating: 10 out of 10I always loved this show so getting this dvd set was a must for me. I have to say that I found series 2 & 3 to be superior to the first series (which was great). I've read a lot of negative criticism on the net of Neil Stuke's performance as Matt but, personally, I found Neil Stuke a lot funnier and believable than Ben Chaplin. I thought it was a brilliant decision to cast Neil in the role of Matt after Ben left the show. Ben was great but I adapted to Neil as soon as he appeared in episode 1 of series 2 and have found him to be my favourite and funniest character in the show. My favourite shows were in series 2 when he was hanging out with Mandy's gay friend but just couldn't see/understand that he was gay - even after he knew he was gay! (Very funny but you have to see it to see how funny it was...) Matt demands he's given back his Sonic the Hedgehog socks!"Game On" is so well written and a total cut above the similarly adult & sweary but over-rated "Men Behaving Badly". Everything about "Game On" is great from the theme music to the writing and performers. Series 3 is a bit more of a tragi-comedy - especially in regards to the character of Martin (Matthew Cottle) as he finds his ex-girlfriend had his baby without him knowing.
I wouldn't say "Game On" is a classic but it is a brilliant show with plenty of vicious & hilarious one-liners. For example, this quote from series 3 when Mandy (Samantha Janus) has just got engaged to her rich boss:
Martin: It's like "Pretty Woman".
Mandy: Yes - but I'm not a prostitute, Martin.
Matt: Not officially!
Anyway, I'm really glad I got this box set and I'd love to see a new series made. For me, part of Game On's charm is the fact that it wasn't as massively popular and well-received as "Men Behaving Badly" and other flat-sharing shows and that you can tell everyone from the writers to the performers put their all into making the show as good as it was.
A gem from the ninetiesReview date: 2004-10-14 Rating: 10 out of 10Not an 'extra' in sight I'm afraid which is really disappointing as a commentary would've gone down great but at least Series three is here to re-watch after nearly a decade! Game On was one of those shows which pretentious Arts lovers and 'terribly serious' comedy writers turned up their noses at but I'm sorry; the sight of Neil Stuke frowning at Martin's baby saying "Nobody told me it was ginger tosser" is absolutely hysterical and makes me laugh every time I watch it. From gorgeous Mandy showing off her curves to Wally Basoom at the Bank this box set will really entertain you..People rant on about Fawlty Towers and Bottom but I'm sorry, Game On was a situation comedy that could stand alongside any of them. Very 'Nineties' sure, but to anybody that was in their twenties/early thirties then it will really appeal.
