I LOVE Roswell as much as anyone, but...

....season 2 is different than the other two. I think the real essence of the show is the relationship between Liz and Max - and when Tess arrived it took away some of the things I loved the most about the show...I think some of the episodes are a little "too much Science fiction", but there are also some really fun episodes here that are great entertainment. Especially the character development of Michael and Maria... So all in all you might cry some and you'll definitely laugh a lot!!

roswell series 2 -Review date: 2005-11-08 Rating: 10 out of 10Great character development here. You can see the strain of the alien message on Max and it gives you exactly what was missing in the first series - answers to questions! Although, on occasion some huge gaps are left unanswered and certainly aren’t followed in series 3. However, this season concentrates heavily on the mythology of the aliens and why they were put on earth in the first place.
Tess gets more annoying than ever in her quest for Max - give it up girl.best seriesReview date: 2005-05-01 Rating: 10 out of 10Roswell season 2 is definatly the best, with the twists and turns between all the characters and their eventual decisions of who and what is most important to them. the final twist at the end is totally unexpected however was great. the only bad thing i have to say is bout the computer graphics in the final scene, they look a little ridiculous but the amazing characters and plotlines make up for this. I was utterly disapointed that series 3 was not shown on bbc, what a waste...FantasticReview date: 2004-09-28 Rating: 10 out of 10There isn't much else you can say about Roswell. Fantastic series and it's really a shame that they stopped making it. I can't wait for the Complete boxset!Great TV, but a missed opportunity on DVDReview date: 2004-09-22 Rating: 10 out of 10I wont go into the details of the story or characters of Roswell, because if you are reading this, chances are that you know something about the series (why else would you be reading a review of series 2 after all...?).
What I want to comment on is the DVD package as a whole. With series 1, 20th Century Fox gave us a deleted scene, different commentaries by cast and production team 3 featurettes and a music video.. With the series 2 DVD we get........... a couple of lame commentaries until the final disk of the set when the extras kick in. It's not a huge problem, because fams of the series are generally happy with the transfer to DVD, which by the way is excellent. However, the DVD format has been kicking around for a while now and there can be few production companies that would release something on disk which has an established worldwide fanbase withouth including a heap of bonus material. 20th C Fox have missed a good opportunity to scoop up all of the fan-generated material and liberally sprinkle it throughout the DVDs
As it is, the releases feel a little hurried, as if the studio wanted to get the episodes out as quickly as possible and tag as little extra material on as possible. Even the commentaries are dull - by far the most iinteresting and entertaining ones coming from the cast members in series 1. Series 2 had none of these.
Let's hope series 3 which is due out on Oct 11 has as much bonus material as they can physically fit on the disks.
