Amazon.co.uk Review
You've got to admit that any movie about a teenager whose new next-door neighbor is a 19-year-old former porn star has bona fide cult-movie potential. To its credit, this rather schizoid blend of sleaze and comedy boasts an engaging pair of costars in Emile Hirsch (as the smitten, voyeuristic virgin) and 24's Elisha Cuthbert (as his sexy new house-sitting neighbor). And there are some good laughs in a script that takes unexpected turns when we learn that Cuthbert's character is trying to leave her porn-star past behind, to the chagrin of her pimp-like producer (Timothy Olyphant, in a scene-stealing role). Faring somewhat better than he did with the Rob Schneider non-comedy The Animal, director Luke Greenfield clearly recalls the turbulence that goes hand-in-hand with being young, horny, and confused. There's honesty and even (dare we say it?) maturity to be found in this raging-hormone fantasy, even if it's partially buried in a convoluted plot that's appalling or appealing, depending on your tolerance for good-natured prurience. --Jeff Shannon
one of the best teen/high school comedies I've seen in recent years

I liked the way this film managed to be very witty and outrageous without being crude ( unlike American Pie for example) and the unusual and unpredictable storyline. One of the better sexy/dirty teen/high school/college movies around and with a more substantial love story going on in it that than in most movies of this genre.Elisha Cuthbert who plays the lead female role looks gorgeous and sexy as hell but still seems like the kind of girl who could be living next door to someone.
Great piece of casting there.

not that great at all!Review date: 2008-07-10 Rating: 4 out of 10I'd wanted to see this film for a long time, it appeared as a slightly rougher version of a typical chick flick and I was interested by that. The plot is fairly unbelievable with Elisha Cuthburt's very little clothes policy and Hirsch's constant drooling overcoming alll the functions of his mind. The film was amusing I guess but the storyline got a bit much after a while and I got sick of the constant 'hot girl - all men gawping' action which seemed to happen every couple of minutes. Then again it is an american film. A funny, romantic, teen comedy - probably better for us blokes!Review date: 2008-02-01 Rating: 8 out of 10
This movie would be much better if we saw Elisha Cuthbert's naked; she IS a porn star after all. As it stands though, it is almost the definition of a three-point-five star movie. That's saying, it has everything you knew it would have, which makes it very average - but it also throws up some bizarre new twists and turns to the genre, which at least makes it slightly unpredictable. The movie was long, and could have done with some heavy editing; many scenes were just space fillers - particularly filming the imagination of the main character. In an already long movie this was unnecessary. Also the main character; Matthew, is an adolescent 'boy'. Surely they could have chosen someone who looked less like the kid from the wonder years. The belief that Elisha would enjoy the contrast between the usual porn star industry men, and this little boy was a little far fetched, and I can almost guarantee that's why it's never happed. There is nice and then there is naive - he wasn't just a contrast, he was the complete opposite -- trying to hard to be cool, he looked like an insecure little brat - a teenager, not decisively nice at all, just too insecure to argue or defend himself -- definitely too limp wristed to ever pull a post porn star and protect her from the bad porno man. Saying that, it's really Elisha Cuthbert's movie, so he's only a minor inconvenience. Reading other reviews for this movie it seems unanymous - the tag line for this movie should be, 'it's not as bad as I thought'.Excellent filmReview date: 2008-01-29 Rating: 8 out of 10Much more than expected, unexpectedly good plot...good acting on the part of elisha cubert. well worth a watch...Great!!Review date: 2007-10-30 Rating: 10 out of 10I loved this film. Not because Emile Hirsh (Matthew) is looking gorgeous because I love the plot line. Danielle (Elisha Cuthbert) is the interesting and beautiful porn star who happnes to fall in love with the geeky boy next door - Matthew. The story is about Matthew going to extreme lengths and doing things he doesnt even understand just for Danielle, who in turn loves him. I don't want to give away too much cause it is better when it is a surprise!
