STUNNING!
Review date: 2006-02-13 Rating: 10 out of 10

When I purchased this 4-disc dvd, I had no idea it was going to be like this!. It blew me away. From On Leather Wings to Dreams In Darkness.
This volume had everything. A dark deep voice by Kevin Conroy for Batman, a pyschotic nutter's voice for the Joker. Brilliant stories by Alan Burnett (Two Part I & II) and Paul Dini's Mr. Freeze episode : Heart Of Ice.
The special features are excellent. Disc 1 - The Pilot Promo hosted by Bruce Timm. A brilliant promo reel. Couple of thugs on a rooftop. Batman shows up. Dark & mysterious and wipes them out.
Disc 2 - A retrospective Batman The Legacy Continues Documentary. This is marvelous. It tells everything you need to know about Batman. Talking about Dark Deco, voices, music, animation technique, rogue's gallery. It has everything.
Disc 3 - A tour of the batcave. Not as good as I first thought. Click on Batman, Batvehicles, Bat Gadgets & Alfred. What you get is music & shots from random episodes.
Disc 4 - Trailers. Justice League/SuperFriends/Batman Mystery Of tHe Batwoman.
Overall a good release, okay there are some stinkers, but overall this is one of the best box sets i've ever got.
This is Batman. Batman the animated series is Batman.
Look out for the Volume2/3 & 4 release which completes the series.

I adore the artwork and animation!

I always like Batman ever since it was on TV back in the early 90s and has been shown on Sky One a lot back in 2004 which was good but the episodes weren't always repeated that often which was a shame, but cae la vie!

I already own all three volumes of Batman: The Animated Series Region 1 boxsets and I agree with another viewer who commented on the shoddy way the United Kingdom release DVDs with three to four episodes a piece, at least with these you get hours of entertainment, every episode from the show and good clear surround sound to accompany the series!

Remember this, get these boxsets whilst you can for all those who like Batman and own a Multi-region DVD player, because if not you're missing out on a classic cartoon!

Brilliant series with the UK being ripped off again!

This was one of the best animated series of the 90's together with Gargoyles and Spiderman.

At the moment the UK is getting the episodes released in small volumes, no doubt larger volumes such as this with appear in R2 eventually but who wants to wait a year before they can get them when multiregion players are so cheap?

Take my advice and buy this and the other 2 volumes rather than the sorry R2 offerings, you won't regret it!

Oh and by the way this volume does have the Cat and The Claw episodes, the previous reviewer must not have read the episode list properly!

This is a awsome dvd which shows some of the best work from the batman animated seires. Ive so far watched this about 10 times and i havent got bored of it yet. The only dissapionting thing about it though is that it hasnt got the Cat and the claw the very first of the animated seires, aww well you cant have every thing.
