Great fun

Volume 3 continues a run of hilarious cartoon shorts starring our favourite cat and mouse. There are a couple of Academy award winners "The Two Mouseketeers" and "Johann Mouse" and some other excellent episodes too such as "Jerry's Cousin", "Sleepy Time Tom", "Push Button Kitty", "Fit To Be Tied" and "The Dog House". This volume marks the end of the best Tom and Jerry cartoons as the following 3 volumes didn't have so many good episodes.
One cartoon that I was expecting to be heavily censored for implied racism (given that a bit of censorship had affected some of the cartoons on the previous two volumes) was 'His Mouse Friday', which features black cannibals and many scenes where Jerry disguises himself as one. This was actually more complete than the previous video version that I had seen, where the cannibal dialogue from Jerry and the cannibals was completely removed (but you could still see their mouths moving) in that version it has been restored in this (yet Mammy was still redubbed in 'Push-Button Kitty'!), although one small segment of 'His Mouse Friday' on this DVD has been reframed to put a little cannibal out of shot, which was a bit stupid as you could clearly see him just moments later!
Some great cartoons on here. Still no sign of the missing 'Million Dollar Cat' (which by rights should have appeared on Volume 1).
There isn't much in the way of extras on the DVD, and one rather irritating feature of all the volumes in this T&J DVD series is the fact they're double-sided which means you have to eject the disc & turn it over to see the remaining episodes. That said, the menu system is fairly intuitive and there isn't much in the way of legal mumbo-jumbo to wade through to get the the selection menu.
If you enjoy Tom & Jerry, just buy this volume - you won't regret it! I still give it 5 stars in spite of the gripes above.
The DVD contains the following T&J cartoons:-
Side A: T&J At The Hollywood Bowl, The Framed Cat, Cue Ball Cat, Casanova Cat, Jerry & The Goldfish, Jerry's Cousin, Sleepy-Time Tom, His Mouse Friday, Slicked-Up Pup, Nit-Witty Kitty, Cat-Napping, The Flying Cat, The Duck Doctor. Side B: The Two Mouseketeers, Smitten Kitten, Triplet Trouble, Little Runaway, Fit To Be Tied (my favourite), Push-Button Kitty, Cruise Cat, The Dog House, The Missing Mouse, Jerry & Jumbo, Johann Mouse, That's My Pup & Just Ducky.
