I can remember this the first time round, and for some reason, it scared the bejesus out of me. Well, now I analise it, it does make some sense, as it is set in a big, dark old house, with a screaming unseen (at first) small child and sad music played on a cor anglais or oboe.
It is now, watched through adult eyes, a charming tale and perfect for rainy Sunday afternoons. Well done BBC; your period dramas are the best in the world!
