How Does He Do It?
Review date: 2008-08-20 Rating: 8 out of 10
Rich Hall's country music playin' alter ego, Otis Lee Crenshaw seems to have more popularity than his creator these days, which is no bad thing because Hall's creation is comic genius. It's a loveable satire that is never treated with idiocy in mind, which is why the character of Otis works so well; he's just about believeable.
Hall has a great talent for penning satirical country music numbers, from lamenting that his downfall to a third of a man will mean he will never disappear on 'Half A Man', to the always popular 'Do Anything You Want To The Girl, Just Don't Hurt Me', or informing a boy asking if he's his 'New Daddy Now' that he's only there to rob his house, 'How Do We Do It' is filled with great, varied and overall funny songs. It's a great companion do the DVD filmed in London, which I can also heartilly recommend because both setlists are completely different, so there's no chance of feeling ripped off. But then again, with quality like this, that was never going to be an issue.
You cant go wrong with this CD if you're a fan of Crenshaw or Rich Hall's work in any capacity. It's comic character satire done well!
