Amazon.co.uk Review

Torque suggests that a lot has changed in the biker-movie genre since Hell's Angels on Wheels--this film may be the new benchmark of feverish chopper action. Martin Henderson plays Cary, a speed king and relatively civilised outlaw with a knack for annoying everyone, including drug smugglers, the FBI, an ex-girlfriend, and, worst of all, biker gang leader Trey (Ice Cube), who thinks Cary killed his brother. On the run from everyone, Cary survives by playing all sides against one another. But the story is less important than the frantic, over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek action surrounding it. The Fast and the Furious producer Neal H Moritz is responsible for this crazy, violent, yet appealingly sardonic cowboys-on-wheels piece. --Tom Keogh

I cant begin to describe how awful this film is. The story is dreadful and the acting is even worse, I hate quitting on a film so I forced myself to watch all the way through and by the time it was finished I was propping my eyes open with matchsticks!!!!How rubbish and a waste of time and effort. DO NOT BOTHER!

Pure fun
Review date: 2008-06-06 Rating: 8 out of 10

The point of this movie is to have fun - most reviewers took this film way too seriously and therefore pick apart it's many plot holes. Yes, most of the stunts are probably not possible and the characters could have been better written. However, the film gets going straight away with barely a dull moment and nice eye candy throughout with a great soundtrack!
My advice for anyone about to watch this movie is to take this film as it was intended: pure fun with the cast and director in on the joke!
Highly recommended.

Great Stuff

some reviews slating this are wrong, yeah some stunts are not probably possible in this movie but then your watching a film, star wars never happened, jurrasic park never happened. loads of things in movies are almost impossible. so just forgot about that

its got a good story line, some good comedy and bike racing in their, i am not a lover of bikes but i thought this was a good movie and for the money its well worth it, i only give it 4 stars cos i can think of better films to watch but this is a really good one

I reject the notion that a dumber film will be released in 2004. I just don't think it's possible that one year can hold two films this remarkably stupid. Yes, I know it's early, and yes, I know that the world is not safe so long as Freddie Prinze the second is still receiving scripts, but I doubt something will trump Torque in the department of sheer stupidity. Torque is Gigli on wheels, or if you prefer, Whigli.

Hoping to build off the incredible momentum of Biker Boyz...uh huh...Ice Cube pairs with Martin Henderson (The Ring) to race motorcycles in the hot California sun. How keen it would be if Dom DeLuise and Jamie Farr (and perhaps Roger Moore!) would join them on their quest. Believe it or not, adding some of the more shameful aspects of The Cannonball Run really wouldn't ruin Torque, so why the hell not? At least it would show more imagination than is there now.

Of note is Monet Mazur. She's cute, but that's not why she's noteworthy. In the film, she sports a t-shirt with the world famous Rolling Stones logo. Her dad is the original artist of said logo. Yeah, that's about all you'll learn watching Torque. Oh, and her middle name is Happy, and she's in a band called Nancy Raygun. Even still, that ephemera is of far greater value than the 80 minutes of Torque.

The scary thing is, rather than letting the bikes rev for most of the movie, there is actually a plot, as silly as it is, involving murder, betrayal, and, of course, a motorcycle race against time.

I won't even waste more of your time - or mine, which is really the issue here, belaboring the point. No matter how quick the super motorcycles in Torque are, they couldn't move the flick fast enough for me. What a dreadful way to spend an evening

The review below? NO. The only biker that would enjoy this film is the sort that has more acne than brain cells, wears a proper cacker tracksuit and baseball cap, can has only ride a 'motorbike' with a top speed of 30mph (aka a moped)

Its terrible. Towards the end they seem to forget the real characters and it turns into a ridiculous cartoon. I can barely believe I watched it all.

"Forget what the other reviewers have said about this film (except the ones saying that it's good or OK). They are probably not even bikers!! (ie: car driving bike-haters that are slatting a film off about bikes). Don't get me wrong, my review isn't all "technical", but read it and see what the DVD is REALLY like.

I am a biker and can tell you that this film ROCKS!! Yes I know that the story line isn't perfect, some of the stunts are ridiculously over-the-top and the film isn't perfect - but what films are? (OK, Armageddon) All films have their downfalls if you want to pick at them.

This film is a "pop-corn" flick, as the director describes on his commentary version. With no real story line or meaning to it - just a film to be enjoyed for the sake of it.

I will say that the commentary version with the actors is the most entertaining, funny and interesting commentary version of ANY film I've EVER watched (and I'm not exaggerating). They all have such a laugh with the commentary you have to laugh along with them - I'd actually now rather watch the actor's commentary version than the actual film! (Get to know the characters before you watch this version though as nearly all the actors are in the commentary version (unlike other films where they have 1,2 or 3 of the actors at the most) and it can be a bit tricky knowing who's who)

The technical commentary is also very interesting and there are things in the film you would never guess unless you watched this.
I think with DVDs now, it's not just about the film itself, but all the interesting stuff that goes with it that you wouldn't otherwise know)

Buy it and enjoy!!"
