This is the best thing that I have EVER seen! The characters are awesome (GO SUMMER!) and the story arcs are amazing. I bought this and was hooked from the intro... I have now watched all four seasons and I can tell you... YOU'RE in for a TREAT! BUY THIS NOW!!!
ps The season 1 finale is the most fantastic piece of writing in television history

A great first season

The OC season 1 is probably the best season of the show. The music is great (Halleljuah by Jeff Buckley is well used), and although it has its flaws, like the fact Ryan is supposed to be about 16 when in fact the actor who plays him is more like 25, its good fun. The humour is well timed, particularly the banter between Seth and his dad Sandy. I just wish there had been more of Anna as she was my favourite character. Still it's a great show and the last episode is particularly fine. Addictive stuff that filled a gap after Dawson's Creek went off air.

I can watch one episode of the OC after another and I think this is because there is always something interesting going on in either the dialogue - which is witty,if rarely profound - or visually -whether Ryan is giving us one of his looks that say a thousand words or one of the women is looking sexy or a beach or house is looking attractive.The best storyline in this series is the one that involves Seth developing relationships with Anna and Summer and having to decide between them.I've heard people who watched other seasons of the OC say they think Mischa Barton,who plays Marissa, ruins the programme but I couldn't disagree more strongly - she plays Marissa so well that as a viewer you can't help thinking she must be like this in real life.It can be painful watching Marissa because everyone knows someone who has her misfortunes in real life and we don't like being reminded of this - particularly in a show that has so much else that is sunny in it.But remember you can't appreciate sunshine unless you're reminded what the alternative is!I suspect,from what I've heard other people say,that the seasons following season 1 did not have so much wit in them to compensate for the dark side of life - that is a fault of the scriptwriters, and it would also explain why season 1 is generally rated by viewers as the best season of the lot.
Also when any programme is new it tends to seem more interesting.The OC will appeal to people from 16 years old to 60 years old. In every episode the parents and adults get as much airtime as their children.And quite often the adults act younger!

Well what can you say about the OC? Brilliant in every single way, but wait. "Oliver" jeez Josh Scwarchz must have been high the day he wrote the oliver character, the season is fantastic up untill he joins the set and then kaplooey hes the most irratating person ive ever seen, and i think if i ever actually met the actor i would really have to go chino on his ass. And then theres beautifull Marissa... who likes to get all the audience involved in her crappy life, will make you feel so sorry for her. AND THEN STEAL A WATCH! what the hell is wrong with that?
The most irratating thing about the OC and this applys to season one to three. "Relationships" Adam Brody, and Rachel Bilson? I have light switchs in my house that have been turned on and off less times than they have in 60 odd episodes you never know whats going to happen next! appealing you might think, not really after the one hundreth million time of seeing it happen, I find a problem in the fact that im torn all the time.
One episode will finish and its all lovely and the "fantastic four" is all together and cheery laying on Summers bed. Heartwarming yes. But alas it wont last as the next episode will see something completely idiotic breaking everyone up and preparing us for yet another miserable ending.
But on a brighter note.
Seth,is fantastic his witty anecdotes and criticisms keep the show alive from start to finish and his facination with Summer, which i happen to share ; D
Ryan, is well scripted and doesnt say too much but when he does its too keep seth in line. Which makes him a great partner for Seth.
But overall my favourite part of the OC Is Sandy with his huge eyebrows and caring personality.
All Four box sets are brilliant in thier own right.
But this one is most certianly the best. Loved every minuite, except for Oliver :@
Irs a shame they cut the show at the fourth season, becuase its clever funny and enthralling. with a bit more effort it could have been something really big.
Well worth the asking price.

The OC is my favourite TV show! Its one of the most addictive shows on TV! Season 1 is by far the best season of The OC. Season 1 contains more drama and comedy compared to the other seasons. The OC appeals mainly to a teenage audience, due the core four characters, although the lives of Kirsten, Sandy, Julie, Jimmy and Caleb will appeal to an older age group. You should definitely buy this DVD boxset, it will your most viewed DVDs !
