i have been adding to my war collection that contains many of the greats , and when i saw the good reviews this film was getting i bought it "hook line and sinker".
this ain't no war film its more like a very bad carry on spoof ,its embarrassing watching roger moore and the even more dreadful elliot gould try to goof their way to a pay day.i sat there totally baffled as to what nonsense i was watching in one scene a german in the guntower is taken out with a sling shot from over 50 yds its totally farcical from beginning to end {please believe me} , the only thing worth watching is the beautiful stephney powers.i must own over 700 dvd's and this is the worst by a very big margin ,i honestly have not seen a worst film from a quality cast in all my life.

A great rompReview date: 2008-06-16 Rating: 10 out of 10i find this fil fun as an all star cast of POWs take over a greek prisoner of war camp and go on to stop a V2 from destroying the allied invasion. Historicaly it if nonscence but that dooes not matter I like the humour, the action and the story. a great film.A brilliant and hugely enjoyable filmReview date: 2007-10-12 Rating: 10 out of 10I have watched this film on countless occasions, and I still marvel at its audacious approach to WW2. The first few times I saw the film, I honestly thought that it must be set in some kind of alternative reality. The actors (Sonny Bono, Richard Rountree, Elliot Gould, in particular) have made no attempt whatsoever to even LOOK like they are in the 1940s. Having said that, Sonny comes out of the film like de Niro in comparison to some of what is going on. Roger Moore plays a German, with a school ground 'Nazi' accent. Brilliant stuff! And, Mr Bronson from Grange Hill is there too! Not exactly Schindler's List, I give you, but an excellent example of 1970s enjoyable nonsense.Really enjoyable with a star studded cast.Review date: 2007-08-09 Rating: 8 out of 10I received this as a present having never seen it before and had a blast watching it. There a some really stellar names even if one or two struggle with foreign accents... naming no names. Carlton have put together a terrific package with well designed menus, good picture quality and interesting extras. it's a shame that a surround sound remix isn't available but the original mono track more than adequate. Recommended.Super filmReview date: 2007-06-25 Rating: 8 out of 10Ok - Roger Moore is a little hard to take as a German Officer, in World War 2, afterall he was James Bond! But apart from that this is a really good adventure story.
Interesting story line, well acted, with action and fun.
A good rainly day film.
