Watcer in the Woods
Review date: 2008-04-29 Rating: 10 out of 10

I loved this film as a child and looked for it a few years ago but had no luck! Was so glad I was found it on here! It scared me so much when I younger and was shocked to see thay it was made by Disney! haha! Me and my 11 year old daughter watched it last night and it still made me jump, I think the music makes it more scarey that what it is but it certainly made my daughter jump too! A much loved film!

NO extras AT ALL!!!!
Review date: 2008-02-01 Rating: 2 out of 10

Both U.S. editons of this title have extras. The Anchor Bay edition has a fine collectible booklet, a DTS ES 6.1 sound remix,a full length commentary track by the director, 2 (commented) alternate endings (6:29 and 13:25) aas well as 2 theatrical trailers (all in 16.9) and on top of all a BEAUTIFUL cover. The Disney U.S: edition loses the booklet, the commentary tracks and the DTS but still offers Dolby 5.1 as well as the 2 alternate endings and 2 theatrical trailers. The Cover is not as great as the Anchor Bay but still WAY better than this strip bare european edition witha UGLY AS HELL cover and NO extras at all.
When will the American studios stop regarding Europeans as second rate?

Astonished Disney made it
Review date: 2007-01-12 Rating: 10 out of 10

Genuinely frightening, a very tight script, intelligent direction and a plot revolving around the ritualised death of a child - can this really be a Disney film? What a pity they don't/didn't make more films like this.

With the possible exception of some slightly stilted child-acting (although it certainly beats Harry Potter in that department), it's hard to find any flaw at all in this film. The touch of that master of writing Brian Clemens is evident in the sheer quality of the script, and the directing is efficient and effective. The most surprising thing is just how genuinely frightening the film is. 'Mild horror' it says on the PG-rating guidance, but, although not in the least gory or unpleasant, the suspense and frights are done in so masterful a way that I agree with the reviewer who said this should be a twelve. The film should scare any adults watching with the light off and I dread to think what sort of dreams it might give even older children.

It's disappointing that the DVD has no extras at all, although praise should be given for the subtitles available in half a dozen other languages. Nevertheless, the quality of the film shines through and I have to give this film a resounding 5 stars.

Spooky Disney
Review date: 2006-08-17 Rating: 10 out of 10

This film isn't that scary I've watched a number of times and found it a good story spooky enough to keep you watching but not to make you jump but maybe after dark or inthe dark may change it.
The atmosphere is just right and well set a spooky old house an old woman may seem perfect for this type film but that isn't where the spooky stuff happens and the youngest of the cast seems to be possesed slightly.
Worth a watch to see a flim from a maker known for kiddie films try something different plus older Disney fans will enjoy it if they like the supernautral and its a good starting point for new fans of horror films.(Young Kids)
