A Very Good Explanation to the King of Pop!!!
Review date: 2005-04-14 Rating: 10 out of 10

This is not a collection of some music videos, this is a very interesting documentary about the music phenomenon that is Michael Jackson. Also, the documentary shows the music video to Michael's latest song One More Chance, which was the only new song on Michael's '03 greatest hits collection Number Ones. This was originally aired on American channel CBS, and quite recently in the UK it was on Channel 5. The DVD is different to the TV airings because it cuts out some people like J-Lo, Slash and more. But, the DVD is still very good. Also, after they mention Black or White from Dangerous, there is no mention of Michael's other albums that were released after that like HIStory, Blood On The Dance Floor, Invincible, all of the songs from Dangerous (apart from Black or White) and they could at least have mentoned his new album at the time, Number Ones.

I think that on some of the songs on Invincible, Michael shows off his true singing talent (e.g. Speechless)and on HIStory, Disc 2 showed off his creativity (e.g. Earth Song) and on Blood On The Dance Floor, the remixes were very impressive (e.g. HIStory (Tony Moran's HIStory Lesson)). Also, on Michael's '03 greatest hits collection Number Ones, it showed off all the great songs of his career and the megastar, Michael Jackson. If you liked Number Ones though, you'd be best trying his new album The Ultimate Collection, which has lots of rare demos & songs & greatest hits not on HIStory & Number Ones.

If you are a new fan of Michael Jackson, then this DVD kind of explains his whole career to you, and the songs in the background may get you to go out and buy 1 of his albums. I like the way on the DVD that Quincy Jones tells you all about when he and Michael were in the studio recording Thriller. But the bad thing is that the documentary is only 40 minutes or so long which is too short for my liking. So, if you don't have a clue about Michael Jackson & his music and you would like to know, then I recommend that you buy this.

A Fitting Tribute
Review date: 2005-01-18 Rating: 10 out of 10

This is a sensational tribute to the aptly-named King of Pop, Michael Jackson. It's great to see some of the most influential people in music, both young and old, recognising Jackson for what he truly is... the greatest recording artist in the history of music. Whether you're a fan, new or old, or not at all, you should be able to appreciate this documentary for the music if nothing else. Forever, Michael.

It's Not As It Seems

This DVD is good but don't let the track listing above fool you. It is not a group of music videos. This DVD is a documentry about the self-proclamed king of pop. The only reason the track listing is of any relevence is that the songs in the list are the ones played in the background while people like Beyonce and Quincy Jones talk about stuff.
But it is still something only a Michael Jackson fan would apreceate.

Cool DVD
Review date: 2004-04-27 Rating: 10 out of 10

Sony publicised this DVD as having footage from the 1988 Grammy's andbehind the scenes footage from the song 'Wanna be Startin Somethin'. Therewas actually never a video for that particular song, so it came as nosurprise to me that this footage doesn't exist, but the fact that theyadvertised it as containing Grammy's footage when it didn't was veryirritating indeed. This is yet another desparate attempt by Sony to makeMichael Jackson look stupid and simulataneously squeeze money from thepublic.
But, in a welcome twist of fate, this DVD is amazing none-the-less. If youare a new Michael Jackson fan then you will love this DVD because it showshis career in highlights with cool video and tour footage combined withlots of information. If you are a long time fan then you will love thisDVD for the rare footage and the fact that it's actually positive.
For no apparent reason this DVD cuts off after Dangerous was released, andcompletely ignores HIStory, Blood on the Dancefloor, and Invinciblealbums. Furthermore, it only speaks about one song from Dangerous. In myopinion, Dangerous, HIStory, and Invincible are Michael's most creativeworks, along with Ghosts, the mini-movie, which was also made during theera that was untimely forgotten by the creators of this documentary, so Ifound their absence to be very frustrating.
The video for One More Chance is beautiful, and appears to be Michael'sway of thanking his fans. The video is packed with footage of his fansholding torches and candles for him, screaming, crying, fainting overhim... it's kind of his way of saying, thanks for giving me this, I wantthe World to see it and see how proud it makes me.
Sony advertised this DVD as an "expanded version of the CBS special" thataired last year... can somebody please explain to me how you expand anhour long show, and make it 40 minutes? JLo was cut out, Slash was cutout, and Mya were cut out... all irritating.
Yet still, I give this DVD 5/5, because at the end of the day, Michael isMichael. The songs on this DVD are beautiful. The videos are phenomenal. The dancing and the performances are the greatest this planet has everseen, and probably ever will see. It's cool to watch Beyonce Knowlesswooning over Michae repeatedly calling him sexy, and it's great to watchso many of today's biggest talents paying homage to the true King of Pop.So despite the missing footage, despite the wrongful advertising, anddespite Sony's greed and lies, this is still a great DVD to own.
If you are looking for music videos then I would suggest HIStory on FilmVolume II or Dangerous: The Short Films, but if you are looking forpositive, fun, rare footage with an incredible mix of live footage andvideos, this will do you fine.

for michael jackson fans only
Review date: 2004-03-30 Rating: 6 out of 10

I am a big michael jackson fan and i was looking forward to this DVD but when I got it I was a little disappointed as the dvd only runs for 40 minutes. Michael does not even give an interview. This dvd is just people talking about michael and his songs. There are no exras on this DVD and we dont even get to hear one full song. Now I am saying this dvd is rubbish its good but any new michael jackson fans really should buy another dvd on michael jackson. Not the best michael jackson dvd out there.
