A gem
Review date: 2008-08-20 Rating: 10 out of 10
This will be a very short review, because the point is... well, "The Point" is... it's one of those rare things that I feel is so perfectly and uniquely self-contained and wonderful that any attempt to describe it would harm it in some way. It just has to be watched.
I know that's a bit Zen, but that's how this film makes me feel. I love it! I wish it were on Region 2...

Right to the PointReview date: 2005-10-24 Rating: 10 out of 10As with other reviews I think this is a great coming together of beautiful music, witty words and of course some excellent animation. Despite first being aired on BBC2 back on Boxing Day 1970 (grey cells may have let me down but I am pretty sure it was then) this stands that test of time.
Harrys playful songs fit well with some of the more serious lyrics and he uses his superb voice to tremendous effect to both. In the original he narrated it himself, although I think in this DVD Ringo has the pleasure.
The film has two levels - a fun cartoon with jolly music, and a serious message which is still relevant (and needed ?) today.
It is about time the BBC dusted it off, paid the royalities to his estate and let more people enjoy what was a unique talent.

At last - THE philosopher's taleReview date: 2004-05-24 Rating: 10 out of 10At last this masterpiece has been released! I first saw it on Christmas TV some 30 years ago! Nillson was a philosopher of the first water, his delightful imagery combined with skillful lyrics and music are a joy to watch. Experience the Rock Man and his wisdom, guiding Oblio through his journey of exile from the racist and separatist world of the Land of the Point. I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing it again (and again, and again!)Harry Nilsonn : The PointReview date: 2004-04-23 Rating: 10 out of 10Great story, Great animation and the music is absolutely superb. Nilsonnat his imaginative best. Never mind 'the Snowman'. It's THE POINT thatshould be shown every Christmas on television. And for all of people whodont have a multi region DVD player how about releasing a region 2version.
