A Avengers for the 90's
Review date: 2004-05-27 Rating: 8 out of 10

Billed as a hi-tech Avengers for the mid 1990's this stars Jay Griffiths as the ever grinning Ros with ex-soap star Jessie Birdsall as Beckett & singer Craig Macglochlan as Ed. They are presented with ever more hi-tech dangerous situations. And Ros normally has a new gizmo to help the hapless Ed or Beckett. Unfortunatley the expensive titles which promise high production values prove to be a let down.
This series like many other BBC shows suffers from a very low budget. So a large amount of imagination is required to watch Bugs to enjoy it.The performances from the stars is good in this first series as are the villians.Based around Docklands this still manages to look slicker than it might have done. The DVD has some extras but nothing which is very exiting. It's good to see this finally on DVD at last , and I am still a fan.

Finally Bugs on DVD
Review date: 2004-03-14 Rating: 8 out of 10

There was nothing like it at the time when Bugs was first aired on the BBC gadgets, bombs, hi tech crime almost a plot from a James Bond movie. Definitley a good purchase but it could have done with some more extras and more behind the scene stuff but apart from that its good.

Buggy Brilliant!!

What can you say but pure escapist fantasy. Yes every episode opens with something blowing up, the villain is always hoist on his own petard and the final line is ALWAYS a really poor pun but what great fun it is getting there.

Cheesy nonsense like they used to make before everything had to have story arc's and look like it had been shot with a single torch.

Best Episode of Series 1 : Assassins Inc.
Worst Episode of Series 1 : Manna from Heaven.

Extras are poor.

Outstanding

When Bugs first aired in '95 it was a breath of fresh air, and I was hooked. Years on-to me at least- it still retained much of it's original appeal, and for me beats some of the modern drivel the BBC has been sending out.

To be fair there is some cheese, and the plots aren't overly complicated, but this is a worthy addition to anyone's collection - and hours of entertainment reliving - for some - the glory years.

There are some great moments, and for anyone who likes things that go boom there's pretty much a quality explosion per episode.

Some commentaries would've been nice - but the fact remians it's a quality series, still that breath of fresh air I enjoyed all those years ago, and the words "must have" really don't do the series justice

Hopefully ther BBC will see the light and reduce following series of Bugs soon on DVD.... great stuff!

At Last!

This is a great series that captured alot of the fun of the ITC adventure shows of the 60s while adding the realism of the 90s.
The first two or three seasonsa aired in the US a few years back.
I'm thrilled that this great show is finally making it's DVD debut.
