Amazon.co.uk Review

The 1995 family film Casper tries to put a fun spin on the story of a paranormalist and widower (Bill Pullman) who moves into a new house with his daughter (Christina Ricci) and meets up with the ghost of a dead little boy. Based on the comic book about Casper the friendly ghost, the film is a dreary series of awkward interactions between live actors and computer effects, and you can almost see Pullman and Ricci reconsidering the project while on camera. A few cameo appearances from uncredited stars help things a bit. But there's no way, based on this film, that one could have guessed that its director, Brad Silberling, would go on to make the exceptional drama City of Angels. This special edition DVD release includes a director's commentary and exhaustive 47-minute behind-the-scenes documentary, plus games and DVD-ROM content for the kids. --Tom Keogh

I was never a fan of Casper until I watched this movie. It is great fantasy and good acting from everyone including Christina Ricci. A good film for all the family. I also recommend the dvd "Casper meets Wendy".

Spook Time again

This film is Capser based on the Cartoon Ghost which has Christina Ricci from The Addams family films as Wednesday Addams and Kat in this.

I think she is hauntling perfect for this role not to say sexy also this film is far better the the next and the first sequal are know for being rubbish but some film disporve that Star Trek is the perfect prove of that and so does this film it is great so the double pack is great but the porblem for us in the UK is Region 1 I think the PS 3 or a US Player would solve your problems with that but as that is expensive just but as stand alone discs.

Great for a few hours of escapism plus Amazon can porbably supply you with The Addams family films which would match with this film nicely with Kat (Wednesday Addams)

Brilliant

This is one of the most entertaining family films ever made. It's brilliantly funny and also very moving. Yes it has a plot!!! There are great cameos from Mel Gibson, Dan Akroyd and Clint Eastwood, and the SFX are great too. Bill Pullman and Christina Ricci are a great father / daughter team. This puts many of Hollywood's recent efforts to shame with its delightful charm and it's not too long either.

Well entertaining!

Ok so I am the wrong side of 12 but I just love this movie, I first bought it on Laserdisc and recommended it to a few mates and at least 10 of them went out and bought it. The film does not suffer a single second of wasted opportunities and Bill Pullman is amazing in his role as is Christina Ricci. The humour is bright and sparkly and the effects are brilliant. The film centres around a shrink who is trying to find some closure after his wife died and has turned to looking to the afterlife to do so. Along the way there are 2 fantastic villains who are trying to steal the treasure form the haunted house and need to be able to use the magic potion to bring people back from the dead. This really knocks spots of Ghostbusters and has no danger of ever aging in my mind, I still watch it every so often and I am now 39. Just an amazing film.
