DISAPPOINTING FOLLOW-UP TO THE OUTSTANDING FIRST THREE DEATH WISHES
Review date: 2008-07-10 Rating: 6 out of 10
Bronson's soon-to-be stepdaughter dies from an overdose. Kersey once again turns vigilante and kills the pusher who gave her the drugs. Once his "work" is done and he heads home, he is blackmailed by a mysterious stranger who knows quite a lot of him. The stranger "hires" Kersey to take out the two main crime syndicates who dominate the drug market in L.A. Kersey then provokes a mob war, to take out the bosses of the syndicates.
Death Wish 4 is a descent action movie, and it's got the "Bronson-bonus". That's all. Clearly the makers realized they could not walk the same path as they did in the first two installments of the series, there would have to be something new. This new approach doesn't quite make it though. Surely the film has its highlights, but it lacks the class of the other films, it simply isn't a "Death Wish". For fans this will be entertaining nevertheless.
