An early start for a pre-'Sixth Sense' Haley Joel Osment who shows considerable talent as the lonely, distrustful Albert. Gerard Depardieu is delightfully endearing as his imaginary friend and Whoopi Goldberg is believeable as the no-nonsense businesswoman who must learn to embrace the child within if she is to help Albert emerge from the shell he has built for himself. Both funny and touching, this movie is sentimental without descending into slush. The reason it does not is largely due to the combined talent of the three leads. Watch this movie with your kids and realise that there is nothing as important as your own imagination.

A very sweet movie that focuses on the life of young, newly orphaned Albert who is sent to live with his godmother Harriet in New Jersey. Still traumatised over his mother's sudden death, Albert finds solace in a new friend, the playful, caring and loyal Frenchman, Bogus. The catch? Bogus is imaginary.
