I was pointed in the direction of this movie by a friend of mine. I laughed so hard all the way through. Weird Al, is now in sole charge of a T.V station. and while things don't go so smoothly (even his girlfriend breaks up with him) there are laughs a plenty along the way. Of worthy note is Kevin McCarthy, briiliant as the owner of a rival T.V station who will stop at nothing to close Al's little operation. Laughs a plenty ensure there is never a dull moment Brilliant!

a buy for laughsReview date: 2007-09-06 Rating: 8 out of 10well after reading on a website that there was a film with weird al in i found myself immediately buying this item and it doesn't disappoint
the story is a simple plot George Newman (played by weird al) becomes the manager of a tv station after a relative wins the deeds to the station in a poker game, with ratings incredibly low George begins to come up with some tv ideas to boost ratings.
the film itself is very good and moments in this are hilarious however the reason i give it 4 stars is due to the fact that almost all of the special features in the region 1 release of this dvd are missing which is a shame
We Got It All On UHF!Review date: 2007-06-11 Rating: 10 out of 10Being a huge fan of Weird Al Yankovic (yes, that's right, -vic, not -vich or -vitch or anything else people have made up in their heads), I ordered this movie and lay in wait beside the letterbox until it's arrival.
I absolutely loved it.
Weird Al proves he's not just a funny singer/songwriter with a love for polka. He's also quite the actor. He plays George, a man who can't hold a job for more than a few days or so and always has his head in the clouds. The opening sequence itself is one of George's many daydreams, with himself in place of Indiana Jones. When his rich uncle (a skilled gambler) wins the rundown UHF station U62 in a game, he plans to dump it. But his wife wants to keep it, even though they know no-one who can run the place... or do they? And so George becomes the manager of the TV station... but all it does is show boring old reruns! Can a hapless janitor and a bunch of town crazies save the station?...
This movie is enjoyable for the whole family, laughs are always round the corner yet it can still hold a plot. And for the hardcore Al fans, there's an excellent parody ("Money For Nothing/Beverley Hillbillies*", parody of "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits).
And with an excellent commentary by Weird Al Yankovic himself and his manager Jay Levey, and a few little Easter eggs scattered here and there, UHF is definitely worth it's money.Disappointing: no subtitles in English and you can't know till you buyReview date: 2007-05-11 Rating: 6 out of 10Disappointing: no subtitles in English and you can't know till you buy
I'd expect this to appear. The description says main language is English, but there is only English for hearing impaired so you also see the name of the speaker etc.
One of the funniest films ever madeReview date: 2007-03-24 Rating: 10 out of 10I first saw this when I was about 11 & my brother had it borrowed it from a friend. It was on BBC1 in '94ish & we recorded it; the tape doesn't work properly now we watched it so many times. I have just bought the DVD & still laugh out loud. You will find yourself quoting this film for years to come. If you like the Spoof genre then this is a film for you, taking the mick out of both films & tv. Suitable for all ages too it's a good silly film for all.
