Synopsis
This television series is based on James Herriot's hugely popular autobiographical books that recount his work as a veterinarian in the villages of Yorkshire, England. In Volume 2, James continues to court local villager Diane even as he struggles to care for the farmers' ailing pigs and cows. At the same time, master vet Siegfried contemplates another job while brother Tristan prepares to take his final exams.
Love it, love it, love it!

Having watched the first half how could I not watch the rest?!
I agree these are prefect for cold winter nights and are best enjoyed with a nice mug of coco.
Excellently cast everyone looks to be having a good time, the benefits of which are obvious in the quality of acting. I especially like Tristan, as a student myself I fully empythise with all the situations he manages to get himself into. Helen is wonderful and I love her clothes and style. Obviously Siegfried is the real star of the show; impossible, frustrating but always lovable.
My friends laugh at me for reading, and watching ACGAS but honestly whats wrong with a healthy dose of rose tinted nostalgia? I love it!

GREAT FAMILY FILM!! WOULD RECOMMEND!Review date: 2007-05-29 Rating: 10 out of 10these are funny, touching in places stories from James Herriots books.
I think they are really good adaptions of his books, they were made in the 70's, but dont let that put you off because they are really well made,
In this series, James asks Helen to marry him, she agrees!!! They get married, go on honeymoon of testing cows for dieases!!!
Tristain goes for exams, and again....he has to face wrath of his brother Siegfried as he's failed!!!
In total there are 7epsiodes on the dvds. Three dvd's.
Its great for just curling up on a cold rainy day (Like Bank Holiday monday!!) and watching,
WOULD RECOMMEND, GREAT FAMILY FILM!laugh-out-loud funny, perfect for cold winter eveningsReview date: 2004-10-05 Rating: 10 out of 10Although this series was originally made in the 1970s, it stands up very well. The quality of the acting is very high in all the episodes and the cast appear to be having a genuinely good time. Robert Hardy is wonderful as the impossible but difficult to dislike Siegfried, Peter Davison is perfect as his mischevous younger brother, Tristan, and Christopher Timothy is excellent as the fresh-faced James Herriot trying to get to grips with life as a newly-qualified vet in the 1930s. The supporting cast, especially Mrs Hall, are all excellent and the series paints a convincing (if a little rose-tinted) picture of 1930s Yorkshire. All the anecdotes from the books are there and are still as hilarious as when I first read them. There are even a few moving moments. Highly recommended to cheer up long winter evenings.
