Facts and figures about the Six Day War
Review date: 2007-05-23 Rating: 6 out of 10

I bought this DVD to learn in depth about the Arab-Israeli conflict in June 1967 and to see some combat footage of this relatively modern war. There was a great deal of information but too little combat footage, which is especially disapointing since there must be lots of it avaliable due to the fact that it happened 1967 and it was comon practice with cameras on war planes and military documentation in general.

The whole DVD consist of interviews with military historicians in England, which are knowledgeable and interesting. The coflict is presented as "order of battle" with maps, arrows and facts. Very informative, but the lack of combat footage makes the overall impression of it decline.

Was this an impartial, dry and sober presentation about the war? Well, not far from it, acording to me. The Arab-Israeli conflict steer-up such deep emotions among so many people that it is simply not possible to write a book, make a documentary or even write an article about the subject, wihout either one, but most often both sides have it categorized as biased information or propaganda.

I believe this to be a fair presentation of the war. Great emphasis is made to describe how the conflict evolved, from the "Water War" between Syria and Israel to the formation of the Arab Coalition between Egypt, Syria and Jordan.

One of the military historicians state that "given the circumstances it is almost impossible to see how Jordan could have declined to join the war against Israel" which is quite a remarkable statement that does not speak in favor of those who claim this to be a pro-Israeli production. Another of the military historicians is Jewish from what I can see (American accent and a Jewish name) but I do think he puts restraints on himself when describing the events leading up to the war.

As I stated before, there is no such thing as "impartial information" about this extremely "hot topic", but overall I think this documentary is about as close to it as you can get. I can recomend it to anyone who wishes to learn more about the war. To those of you who wishes to see spectacular combat footage, I am afraid you have to try somewhere else.

worth watching
Review date: 2005-10-21 Rating: 8 out of 10

it is a careful factual account of what is known as the six day war between the an arab coalition and israel in 1967,however,the comments made on the movie by experts reveals the bias(eventhough i believe israel did achieve a glorious victory on a technical level).the comments are mixed with pro-israeli emotions which gives you a good sense of how the war looks like in israel.i have always been a fan of hearing the two sides so i definitly recommend this as a reliable source for one side of the story.you won't regret watching it once.
