I am an avid Highlander fan. Having watched all the series and the first movie, So when the studio anounced they were going to make a new film going back to original format with Duncan. Well I thought great, at last someone up there has realised how bad the previous two were, concerning storyline.
I was however disapointed with this, yes it had Duncan and Conner. But had very little else going for it.

The good, the bad...and the truly awful!Review date: 2007-05-03 Rating: 2 out of 10What happened to Adrian Paul's wonderful range of emotion? What happened to the drama and depth of the series? What happened to creating characters fans could relate to?
Ugh! This latest addition to the highlander franchise is a flat dull and emotionally dry affair. The characters (Connor McLeod being the sole exception) wander through the film seemly quite detached from the events going on around them. We do get to see a snap shot of Adrian's true acting talent during his fight with Connor....but the spark dies almost as soon as it ignites.
The leading lady/love interest is an annoying one dimensional character, eliminating her from the plot could have improved the film no end. But alas I'm sure the director felt that there had to be a token girly for Duncan to drool over somewhere in the film....*Sigh* She doesn't fight; she doesn't even carry a sword...but she DOES drop her knickers on demand. So we can only assume that makes her central to the plot
But it's not fair to blame actors for this, in all fairness they weren't given anything to work with. It's the script writers and director who should face the firing squad. The dialogue is riddled with plot holes and continuity errors. The director seems to have told his cast to make their performances as dispassionate as possible. In some scenes it feels as the actors are straining to inject some life into a scene, but you can almost hear the director standing there saying "now now we don't want to make it TOO convincing, lets tone it down a bit"
On the plus side, the scenery and sets on this film are very beautiful. The sword fights well choreographed and engaging. It's just a shame, that since you become as detached from the plot as the characters are, you couldn't care less who wins or looses. There can be only one, er, and maybe a few sequels too.Review date: 2007-04-05 Rating: 8 out of 10
The first Highlander film was absolutely fab, the second was dodgy, the third was better, and I enjoyed this one.
It contradicts established canon, and is predictably cheesy in parts. But overall I thought it was quite good.
This was obviously a devise to tie in the TV series with the film franchise, and it was done well.
Again we have more dodgy Scottish accents, and some fantastic sword fighting which looks pretty realistic. The film has a slow pace which suits the Highlander films and I found the Connor McLeod moment with his brother at the end of the film genuinely moving.
I was never a big fan of the TV series, but I'm sure if I was, that I'd have recognised this film as a great bridge between the two different media (film/TV). On that note - Duncan McLeod was brilliantly performed by Adrian Paul, I enjoyed the flashback scenes of Duncan and Connor larking about and laughing together through the ages. In other Highlander films Connor never seems to be particularly happy and therefore it was nice to see a character I am fond of experiencing happier times.
I thought the creation of Kate as an immortal seemed a bit poor - after all, any psycho-mortal could create more immortals until there were thousands of the blighters! But she did add a good element to the story and ultimately it was probably the right decision for this film.
NO STARS AWARDED!Review date: 2006-06-05 Rating: 2 out of 10This is without even a shadow of a doubt, the absolute worst film of all time bar none!
I cannot imagine what possessed the studio to make this film, obviously just to make a fast buck off poor saps like me, that see the name 'highlander' and regard that as a mark of quality. I am a huge highlander fan and dearly love all 3 previous films, even highlander 2, which is a little too bizzare for most people's tastes. However I cannot stress how truely aweful Highlander Endgame is. A superb set of films has been tainted by this dreadful sequel, that in no way even attemps to align itself with the other films. There is no indication that the makers of this sequel ever sat down and watched the previous films, it appears to be based almost entirely on Highlander the series, but even if u are a fan of this, I would advise strong caution before purchasing this film. Nearly up to standardReview date: 2005-02-27 Rating: 8 out of 10This is definately the best since the original film it was nice to see some of the characters from Highlander: The Series included. It was done on a tight budget and you can tell sometimes with cheaper looking CG backgrounds but if you look past this (which isn't hard) you should enjoy the film. Given you more background on how the main characters (Connor & Duncan) came together and bringing back cast members from the original film you can tell that the makers wanted to go back to the franchise's roots (something previous sequels were never any good at). A brave attempt but not perfect, but then again it wouldn't be a Highlander film if it was perfect, would it?
