Great Comedy! Whoopi at her best.
Review date: 2006-03-20 Rating: 10 out of 10

This is great movie, a great comedy and much more. This is not just another Whoopi Goldberg comedy but a tale of survival when the chips are down. The lacing of hard life lessons with humour makes this a must see by everyone who not only loves comedies but meaningful movies. To have the courage to stand up for yourself, face being knifed in the back, quit your job and build up a firm from nothing in a finance world of wall street dominated by men and even resort to inventing a fictitious male partner to stay in the game makes the Character played by WHOOOPI not only gutsy but a survivor. I found this story line riveting and filled with courage and valuable life lessons. I recommend it not just for the great comedy but also for the depth and meaning conveyed in the movie.

Remington Steele remade
Review date: 2005-06-26 Rating: 8 out of 10

Whoopi Goldberg plays a researcher for a firm of brokers. She is just about to be promoted but gets knifed in the back despite the fact that the knife wielder wouldn't have made it where he was without her knowledge.

Undetered she quits and starts up her own firm. Initially contracts are hard to get as she's a woman. She then hits on an idea -- she comes up with a fictitious male senior partner.

The film then revolves around the questions of: Will the ploy work? and Will her deception be uncovered?

I liked the film because the humour was not over-the-top but came from the situations in the characters found themselves in. It rarely, but does occasionally, decend into slapstick. However, the film feels as if there is real heart behind the characters.

The film reminded me of the old TV series Remington Steele and S1mone (but it's far better than S1mone).

What can I say? This has to be one of the most remarkable and outstanding pieces of work in Whoopi Golburge's career. Her capability to play a member of the oposite sex is absolutly outstanding and hillarious!

Heart warmingley funny!

I went to see this with my freind for his Birth day a few years back. I find it just as good now as I did when I first saw it. The thing that makes this film so good is it's so easy to get involved in. There are so many ocasions where you laugh at and with Whoopi Goldberg! As well as having that laughter side to it there is the disapointment and desperation suprisingly these three things mixed together make it a 5 star film! Very easy to say that this is one of my all time favourite films and I will enjoy it on video for many more years to come! It's an espeacially "must see with the family!" type of film!
