Amazon.co.uk Review

Although direct-to-video Disney sequels usually try to hide or simply ignore the issue, George of the Jungle 2 gleefully points out the lack of continuity between it and the original movie. Here, the good-natured narrator is happy to explain why Brendan Fraser has been replaced and why the special effects look cheaper: it's all a part of an effort to expand beyond the one-joke idea of a block-headed Tarzan who keeps swinging into trees. It's a pleasant surprise that all these self-referential nods and asides to the camera do indeed make hilarious viewing.

Replacement Chris Showerman willingly takes on all manner of humiliation at the hands of CG jungle animals and his new extended family. George junior is the main by-product of the five-year gap, and thankfully has inherited brains from his mother's side (Julie Benz). In a dastardly plot to win back his love, Lyle (Thomas Haden Church, one of the few to reprise his role from the original) has the gang trooping back and forth to Las Vegas. With sight gags aplenty, bumbling George has more than just trees to avoid. --Paul Tonks

A light hearted continuation of the story
Review date: 2006-03-11 Rating: 8 out of 10

The film continues in the same light hearted manar of the first film. It is a pitty that they were not able to get the same actor to play George but it does give them the opertunity for a joke or two.
There is a story line, just, but that is all this sort of 'relax and giggle' type of film needs.
A good film to give the brain a rest with!

Showerman is great!
Review date: 2005-03-24 Rating: 10 out of 10

The new George, Christopher Showerman, is the biggest surprise of the film (and he really IS BIG! So muscular and ripped he looks like a pro bodybuilder). His portrait of George is so kind, good-hearted and naive that he really makes a good replacement for Brendan Fraser. Julie Benz is adorable as always and their son is a good addition to the whole story.
The DVD version features also some behind-the-scenes footage, a game and some more interesting stuff.
Recommended!

George II is more fun than the first!!!!!!!!!!
Review date: 2003-09-25 Rating: 10 out of 10

You know, for a silly movie designed for kids, I had a blast! I'm a big fan of Brendan Frazer, but I have to admit, I liked the new guy, Chris Showerman, better as George. There was something different, more of a lovable, boy scout, clutz, nice guy. In fact, as much fun as the cartoon was, I enjoyed the movie better.
As for KIDS - they will have rolls of fun and laughter!

Showerman steps ahead of Frazer
Review date: 2003-09-25 Rating: 10 out of 10

Though George II is a silly, fun, children's movie with the occasional Disney "adult comments", it was nice to see the Character of George developed even more by the newcomer, Christopher Showerman. Strangely enough, as an adult viewer, I was actually emotionally moved at one point of the movie - something I hadn't expected from such a spoof. Congratulations to Disney for making a sequel better than the first and watch out Frazer - here comes Showerman!
