Amazon.co.uk Review

It was a short but sweet fifth season for Sex and the City, as HBO's resident comediennes found themselves affected by forces beyond their control--the pregnancies of both Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon. A truncated shooting schedule to accommodate the actresses forced this season to be reduced to a mere eight episodes, but they and the writers forged ahead, creating a handful of episodes that if short in content were long on emotion and laughs. Carrie and Miranda wrestled with their solitary lifestyles, albeit with new attachments--Miranda had new baby Brady and single motherhood, while Carrie found herself in the world of publishing as the author of a real-life book of her columns. Charlotte wondered if she'd ever find another man, while Samantha finally got rid of the one that had been vexing her far too much. If the season as a whole felt less than the sum of its parts, those parts were some of the best comedy in the show's history. The season's climactic episode, "I Love a Charade", was one of the series' best episodes ever, equally touching and funny, and grounded the show in an emotional maturity that announced that, after all their wild travails, these women had truly grown up. --Mark Englehart

Ok, yes I would have still loved there to be the normal amount of episodes in this series, but I still enjoyed every single one of these. Definitely one of my favourite shows, and seeing Charlotte and Harry falling in love is lovely.

Started to peter out
Review date: 2007-03-31 Rating: 4 out of 10

This 'economy size lengthed' series was the weakest and the series didn't reach the peak attained in Series 1 and 2. Some the relationships developed between Charlotte and her lawyer, Miranda and the barman and Carrie and Berger (not really Big).

Sex and the City is officially the greatest tv show ever to grace the screens. Every single episode is witty, emotional, saucy, and down-right hilarious. I can't get enough!!!

If ever (and these days it's quite often) there is nothing on tv in the evenings or even a Sunday afternoon, I'll stick one of the series' on and it's guarenteed to put a smile on my face. Each character is different and brilliant in their own right, and the writers really should be knighted or something because I think it's just unbelievably brilliant!
Some people say it's only for girls, and I can't really comment on that because I am one, but I think the humour is definitely superb enough to stretch across both genders. Undoubtedly, the fashion part of the show is highly enjoyable for the majority of the female sex, but SATC is so much more than Carrie's bloody shoes (because she really does have to mention them in e-v-e-r-y single episode!!)

The only tiny gripe I have with this series is in the first episode, when Carrie is randomly visiting museums and it starts to pour down with rain - she persists to scream (and I'm talking a very-high pitched scream) about 4 times because she's getting wet. It sounds petty, but it really is quite irritating.

OK, moan over, (I had to say something negative) That aside I can't really differentiate between each series because they are all equally amazing.

Just watch it!!!!!!

Good but not that good....

I am an avid fan of SATC but I really do feel that this series should have been delayed until the girls had had their babies. It seems rushed, the stories don't really hang together and seem like individual episodes. I think that fact that this series only consisted of 8 episodes - left the fans feeling a bit short changed. Obviously its understandable considering that the producers had to contend with two iminent births... but maybe if it had been delayed 12 months we would have something a bit more like the usual standard. Beside those negative points... the clothes are still gorgeous, the script is witty, the girls look lovely and there is still a lot to be enjoyed!! I would recommend this series to seasoned fans. It would not be a series I would suggest that someone started with, but still deserves four stars!

THis being the fifth season of the adventures and misadventures of the fab four it was begining to show that the scripts were getting a bit thinner but none the worst for it, still funny and well acted
