Just as good

I used to love watching this as a child and have since watched Willo the Whisp to be disappointed, so was somewhat hesitant. But still how good is this cartoon? Still has all the charm, and his glowing nose! Fantastic, you know you have to do it. Only small downside is they put them across endless DVDs!

Absolutely as good!Review date: 2003-09-10 Rating: 10 out of 10Dogtanian was my favourite T.V programme when I was little so when I saw I could finally buy it and watch it again I was over the moon. I thought I might be disappointed, that I was remembering it with Rose tinted glasses and that now I'm at the supposedly mature age of 24 it would've lost it's magic. It hasn't. The DVD arrived today and I'm already 7 episodes into it. Watching it again I remember it all so clearly that it could just be last week that I got home from school and sat patiently at the T.V waiting to see the next installment. The DVD isn't full of Special Features, to be honest it doesn't need to be, but it does have a small profile of some cast members - imagine my surprise when after always fondly remembering Aramis as being my first love I suddenly saw his profile describing him as "slightly camp"!! It was bad enough that my first crush was a cartoon character AND a Springer Spaniel but to also be confronted with doubts over his sexuality, well I'm just thankful that it wasn't released when I was at an impressionable age!
Seriously though, Dogtanian and The Three Muskehounds is just as good as I remember and watching it again has been great. Sometimes you go back to childhood things and they've lost the spark that they once had, but not this. It's stood the test of time and the fact that we've had such a long wait has just made it better. If you loved it when you were a kid, you'll love it now. Just buy it........you know you want to!
One for all and all for one!!Review date: 2003-06-02 Rating: 10 out of 10Dogtanian and the Three Muskahounds was one of the best animated series of the 80's. Set in Louis XIII's France, Dogtanian is a young pup who as a great swordsman with a strong sense of honour sets off to Paris to join the famous Muskehounds. There he meets Muskateers Athos, Porthos and Aramis who take him under their wing as they battle the evil Cardinal Richelieu and his many cronies. As well as the Muskehounds, Dogtanian meets and falls in love with the lovely Juliet which makes up a very sweet, heartwarming subplot. This DVD, the first 9 episodes of season 1 is truly fantastic entertainment. It is funny, romantic, action packed and underlines the importance of friendship. It is just as wonderful as I rememered it to be!!
The DVD itself has some interesting extras including character profiles, a biography of Alexandre Dumas and best of all the words to the truly fabulous theme song, which I guarantee you will be singing for months!
I can't recommend this DVD enough. BUY IT!!!!
Delightful Dogtanian!Review date: 2003-05-16 Rating: 10 out of 10I remember loving Dogtanian and the 3 Muskehounds when I was younger so I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pleased when I saw that it had been released on DVD. I was not disappointed. It is every bit as fab as I remembered and I am really really addicted to it now!! BUY IT!!!!!!!!One for All and All for One!Review date: 2003-05-12 Rating: 10 out of 10There's nothing quite like nostalgia, is there? If you watched Dogtanian on TV as a kid, BUY THIS DVD!! It's fantastic, everything that you remembered and more. The theme song is as catchy as ever, the characters as stupidly entertaining as ever (and Juliet is just as annoying as I remember), the script quite funny (not sure that it's always on purpose!) and watching it as an adult gives a whole new double entendre dimension to the show that I really hope was unintentional! Okay, this isn't a DVD packed with extras (were you expecting it to be?!), but they do have a character synopsis which is actually quite interesting and very amusing (ever wanted to know what breed of dog Athos was?). I loved every minute and now I am desperate to see the rest of the series! Although I do have one worry, how is Dogtanian a pure breed different to both his parents? Perhaps the story isn't over?! One for All and All for One!
