I agree with Inmi Opinion "Chiclanero" (Cadiz,Spain) that this was just garbage. How anyone can actually like this film is astounding.
I Like both Tommy Lee Jones and Nick Cage and will agree that Sean Young has acted well in a few films but the only good thing in this film is some of the copter fight scenes.
I suggest you pass this garbage over as cringe worthy nonsense.

Terrible waste of everyones time and little action!Review date: 2008-05-08 Rating: 2 out of 10Firstly I'll say this is EXACTLY the SAME film/DVD as Wings of the Apache also listed but in a different DVD box.Nicholas Cage is the cocky-know it all helicopter pilot, constantly gum-chewing through the 80 minutes or so of this film that I thought was going to contain a lot of air to air combat of the army fighting against the Colombian drug cartels but spent about 70 minutes showing Cage and others being trained how to fly different 'copters,Cage trying to act the he-man by punching out someone dancing with a prick-teasing Sean Young,Tommy Lee-Jones feeling guilty for telling know-it-all Cage where to get off and the remainder did show some decent 'copter fight sequences.I'm NO fan of Cage I admit but I DO like Lee-Jones.However in hindsight I think this is one I wish i'd given a miss? Better Than Top GunReview date: 2007-08-23 Rating: 10 out of 10This film is good. All involved play their parts well. What you get is a feel-good, american hero, let's kill the drug lord kinda film.
Good action, explosions, arrogant young pilot who comes good. A love interest. All the ingredients of Top Gun, but without Tom Cruise.

Better, in my opinion.Unsung heroReview date: 2004-03-24 Rating: 8 out of 10Maybe the reason that this film never really made a mark is that people dismissed as a "Top Gun" wanabee (much like the pretty awful "Iron Eagle" series). Though the film is obviously heavily inspired by Tom Cruise and pals, it has its own merits and, in my opinion, deserves more attention than it has been getting. That said, the plot is cheesy, with a lame attempt at a love story on the side, and some of the acting is quite bad. Sean Young never really comes across in a believable way and Nicolas Cage's character is pretty annoying at times. However, the film is saved by two elements - Tommy Lee Jones and the helicopters! I'm a bit of a fan of Tommy Lee Jones' laid back style and he is very well suited to this film, in the role an aging Apache flight instructor. His interactions with the young pilot played by Cage add enough levity to make some of the weaker elements of the film bearable.
But in the end the whole thing is just window dressing that provides the raison d'etre for the exhilarating helicopter flight sequences. The Apache helicopter is an incredibly impressive machine and is beautifully presented in this film (though it was actually the TV appearances during the Gulf War that really brought it to the front of the stage). The combat sequences are well choreographed and filmed, giving some believable and intense action. The only bad thing about the air combat sequences is that there just aren't enough of them! If you loved the aerial combat scene in Top Gun, you really should watch this film too.
At the end of the day though, there's little material to interest people who aren't into action sequences and military hardware. It will appeal to any an action film fan, but probably not to those who want some emotional or intellectual content in their choice of viewing. So I'd like to score the film 3 1/2 stars, but that's not possible. So, given the likelihood that anyone reading this has checked out the box cover and is therefore probably an action film fan, I've decided to bump it up to four stars rather than down to three.
I will personally buy this as soon as it comes out on DVD.
