Boreing, boreing, boreing.............
Review date: 2007-07-06 Rating: 2 out of 10

Is about how I would sum up this film, the story of which, although apparently true has all been seen before one way or another, only the subjects have changed in that the victims here are the gypsies when normally they are the jews. For that I have given it 1 star. There is little action in the film, too much lovey-doveyness and virtually everyone ends up where you'd expect them to in Auschwitz meeting Dr.Josef Mengele.Watching paint dry would have been a relief and can't agree with other reviews at all.

A forgotten Holocaust.
Review date: 2007-03-10 Rating: 8 out of 10

The Jews were not the only victims of the Nazi Holocaust.
Half a million gypsy's also fell victim to the prison camps or shot to death by the roadside as they fled in vain from the German invaders.
Here this film follows Dymitr,a Polish gypsy violinist,as he leads his family and friends in a desperate bid for freedom.
Eventual capture leads them to Auschwitz death camp and all that happened there.
This moving true story about a group of gypsys in occupied Poland during World war 2,confronting the atrocities and tragedies of a forgotten holocaust,is well worth purchasing.

And the violins stopped playing
Review date: 2002-12-01 Rating: 8 out of 10

This film is incredibly watchable and tackles the genocide of one of the forgotton minorities during the Holocaust in a sensitive manner. The film provides real insight into the way the gypsies of the era lived and the trials that they went through during the Second World War. This film is a must for anyone who was moved by Schindler's List or Jacob the Liar. A truly moving film.
