Amazon.co.uk Review
Footballers' Wives plays rather like a dramatisation of the worst bits of Heat magazine, fuelling our obsession with worshipping at the celebrity altar. In essence it's Dynasty set in the world of premiership football, though you shouldn't be fooled by the title: this is definitely not a "game of two halves". For the first time in history, men may leave the room at the mention of football to let the women gorge themselves on a surfeit of bad fashion, affairs, drug habits, long-lost children and the gratuitous disposal of excessive wealth. There are more than a few recognisable characters--the foreign manager, the glamour-model wife, the smouldering Italian mid-fielder--whose presence only adds to the (intended) impression that this just might be fact thinly disguised as fiction (though it's unlikely that any real footballer's wife would almost kill the chairman of the club in a fit of rage, as Tanya does in the first episode). Unsurprisingly Footballers' Wives was created by the same team that produced the trash-fest that was Bad Girls and despite never being a contender for best drama it offers a perfect opportunity to become a voyeur in a world with more glitz and leg action than most.
On the DVD: Footballers' Wives is presented with an ordinary TV transfer. The special features are nothing to get excited about, just standard interviews and photo galleries. --Nikki Disney

A terrific show!Review date: 2004-12-21 Rating: 10 out of 10I love this show, so I bought the boxsets for series 1 and 2. I can honestly say that it is one of the best shows on TV. It is gripping, interesting and has many good story lines. I watched it when I heard it was by the makers of Bad Girls (which I also love) but Footballers Wives is 100x better. If you are a fan BUY IT!!
I just can't wait for series 3 to be released on DVD and series 4 to begin early next year!brill!!! buy it!!!Review date: 2004-10-26 Rating: 10 out of 107 words to convince you to buy it are "its footballers wives, it says it all!"
zoe lucker= the best actress ever from her number 1 fan!**A FANTASTIC DREAM FOR FOOTBALLER WNNABEES**Review date: 2004-03-27 Rating: 10 out of 10OK, so I've seen the first two episodes and am absolutely hooked. I wanted to play Football for life but edged out to follow a less finacially rewarding career. I'm not saying I want to be like these characters, but... it does seem to show glimpses of reality from time to time(did I really say that). I like the analogies you can make to players and managers and the surreal reality/comedy/harsh story lines. Yes theres the very pretty girls and the fast cars, drink, drugs, broken marriages but who cares, it's not like most of us will ever know... its great fun and gripping viewing.
**FANTASTIC**gorge garyReview date: 2004-02-20 Rating: 10 out of 10This dvd is so award giving it has got tones of special features compared to the vhs. It is my fave season out of the 2, not counting season 3, because all of the a regional cast is in it, including the Wormsleys, Jason Turner and Chardonnay Pascoe.
