Amazon.co.uk Review
Father Ted is one of those rare sitcoms that defies categorisation--it owes as much to Flann O'Brien and Samuel Beckett as it does to Monty Python--and its blend of satire, character comedy and anarchic surrealism has made it a cult favourite around the world. Exiled to remote Craggy Island, Father Ted shares a house with the breathtakingly stupid Father Dougal Maguire and the constantly inebriated Father Jack, who has a small vocabulary and a taste for furniture polish. Their housekeeper, Mrs Doyle, takes care of them with a never-ending supply of tea and sandwiches: "Go on now, Father, won't you try one? They're diagonal." Together they fight boredom by dressing up as Elvis, startling ducks at the fair and provoking nuns. This set compiles the entire three-year series. --Simon Leake

As i said in my title for this film, this really is one of the best comedy series ever made and will still be funny in many years to come.A must for any fan of comedy or even just anyone who likes to have a laugh, which must be nearly everyone.funniest programmes everReview date: 2007-07-08 Rating: 10 out of 10I bought this a long time ago and have watched all these episodes over and over again. Father Ted is always ending up in funny situations that are usually caused by father Dougel. Jack is always drunk and never seems to stop saying his usual catch phases which are very funny if you have not seen this I advise you too now!Father King of ComedyReview date: 2007-06-15 Rating: 10 out of 10Father Ted is one of those rare, and I mean rare, sitcoms where all the episodes are great and never surpass one another. The plotlines and characters are beyond wackiness. There's Father Ted who thinks he's smart but all his plans backfire, Father Dougal who is completely thick and daft, Father Jack who is a lecherous, alcoholic, elderly priest who is sober once every 12 years and violent. Lastly there is the preists housekeeper Mrs Doyle who is scatty and completely bonkers.
All the other villagers of Craggy Island and priests are wacky as well. There's Ted's arch nemesis Father Dick Byrne with Fathers Cyril McDuff and Jim Johnson who are all like Ted, Dougal and Jack. There's Father Larry Duff who is always getting injured. Shop owners John and Mary who are as nice as pie to one another when the priests are around but as soon as their backs are turned they are trying to kill each other. I could go on and on.
Father Ted is simply one great sitcom. It's just a shame that lead actor Dermot Morgan is no longer with us.
Enjoy non-stop laughterReview date: 2007-06-06 Rating: 10 out of 10Father Ted: Complete Box Set [1995] features the complete three series of this hit channel 4 series aired during the mid-90's. Father Ted; Complete Box set is a real treat for anyone who loves comedy at its real best. Father Ted has a good range of characters with of course Father Ted, Dougal, Mrs Doyle and Father Jack Hackett being the most hilarious character.
All the episodes featured in this box set will fill you with endless laughter, as you will see some really hilarious scenes like unusual fun fair at Craggy Island, Father Ted and Dougal entering Eurovision with a mediocre song, Mrs Doyle offering tea, a spook version of Speed, Dougal saying funny things and son. The list seems endless.
Father Ted is a real quality comedy and I rate as one the best that I enjoy watching. It is very well written and has some good colourful characters, which makes Father Ted a great joy and pleasure to watch.
