After the diabolical third instalment this is almost as good as the first film - and my faith in the idea was restored.

The best Wishmaster! Hands up

What's wrong with you people I don't know, can't care less about you. You wasting peoples time by writing bad reviews about this brilliant movies, the effects in top class. The story is superb, maybe you don't get it, but it's just you.

THE DJINN GETS HIS LOVE ON...

Yup, the sole point of interest in this effort is the fact that it's more of a steamy channel 5 type adventure. Problem is the nudity and sex doesn't compensate for having a lousy actor voice the Djinn and having the same duff director behind the wheel as in the even worse part 3. Tara Spencer-Nairn is pretty fit, a reasonable actress, and not at all shy. Micheal Trucco who plays the Djinn's smarmy human alter-ego is alright, I guess, and went on to land an important part in the television sci-fi classic that is Battlestar Galactica. He Left this pap off the resume we should assume. Features one of the worst sword fights that I've seen in a film. In fact, generally, the set pieces and the design is lousy, lazy and uninspired in comparison with the first two kick-ass little movies.
Plusses are : Tara in the shower, Tara's spicy sex scene with Trucco and cheesy one with t'other lame actor who plays the bitter husband. Er..the stripper scene ? Dunno. The Sword fight is worth a few laughs if you like bad movies. Avoid unless you have to cap off the collection as I did.

BETTER THAN PART 3 - BUT NOT MUCH BETTER

Painter Sam (Jason Thompson) and his girlfriend Lisa (Tara Spencer-Naim) have just moved into their new home when he experiences a terrible accident that leaves him crippled for life. Determined to help him, Lisa invokes the help of lawyer friend Steven (Michael Trucco) who has a crush on Lisa. Therefore, he takes a lawsuit against the company that made the faulty wiring on the bike which crashed and left him paralyzed. Instead of offering to take money, he declines, and gives her a red jewel he found in a box hidden away in his desk. The jewel, unknown to Steven, is the cell for the evil Djinn, which awakens and inhabits his body. Now under the Wishmaster's control, Steven begins making advances on Lisa, who is becoming increasingly distraught since Sam won't touch her anymore. She inadvertently casts three wishes while around Steven/Djinn, and the first two he grants, but the third is the hardest one, for Lisa to love Steven as he really is. Aware that his Djinn appearance will lose her forever, and becoming aware of his love for her, he refuses to grant it, though his other Djinn cohorts constantly beg him to grant the third wish and let their race inherit the earth. In the end, he agrees to offer Lisa a choice; take his hand as the second in command when the Djinn race takes over the world, or to be cast down to another dimension of hell. Struggling to make a decision, Sam arrives and manages to save the day, but his own life is also perished. Lisa makes it out of the house and continues on with her life.

The Good News: I've never been a big fan of the two Wishmaster films without Andrew Divoff as the Djinn, but this film makes a lot of points to make up for that by inserting far more nudity than any other entry in the series. The nudity is at both gratuitous and necessary. On several occasions they could have shot other scenes, but instead opted to show nudity. The meeting place between Steven and Sam in a strip club especially comes to mind. Though the dancer there was stacked and nice to look at, the scene was unnecessary and could have been shot in another place. The gore here is also pretty nice, as several scenes look really impressive. Overall, this film is a lot better than part three, but that's not saying a whole lot right there. Part three relied too much on a Terminator plot instead of the creepiness and eerie atmosphere of the first two. This one also tries to utilize the Terminator plot by introducing a Hunter (Victor Webster) who must kill Lisa before the Djinn grants the third wish, but they had the right mind to known that it would not work and killed him off after a short but effective sword fight with the Djinn.

The Bad News: Too much talk about love. The film contains a unique plot, but goes nowhere with it. The fact that the waker actually casts three wishes is an original idea, but by adding in the love sub-theme, the last two-thirds of the movie is simply the Djinn trying to explain to the other Djinns why he cannot grant the third wish to open the gates of hell and also on his Steven form trying to win over Lisa. It actually got boring for me as I waited and waited to see how it would play out, but I was disappointed by this movie. Another thing I must gripe about is that the wishes granted by the Djinn never really had any negative consequences like the first two. The Djinn never tricks anybody with their wishes and, except for the lawyer who shoots himself, nobody actually got harmed while making their wishes. The closest one was the waitress who wanted to be kissed romantically, then every guy in the restaurant kisses her. Where's the trickery? The harm? Disappointing.

The Final Verdict: Despite the high number of nudity, I would only recommend this movie to those who are interested in how the Wishmaster films end or to those who have seen the first two and are bored by part three.


a shameful end to the djinn

wishmaster 4 is better than wishmaster 3,i wish to start off by saying that but in doing so then i aint saying alot as part three is worst film i have ever seen near enough,part four is poor but better but is very poor when compared to the excellent first film and the solid follow up.
Part four like the other reviewers have stated has the least gore,the special effects are tragic and the budget is pretty poor to say the least,the storyline has one or two solid ideas but the execution of those ideas could and should have been better,not really worth your while unless you need it to complete your collection as i did.
