Worzel Gummidge
Review date: 2008-03-22 Rating: 8 out of 10

Worzel Gummidge is a funny series, about a scarecrow, who makes friends with two children and the crowman who makes the scarecrows. The series is quite good, although the colour is washed out because it looks as though it was shot on film. Una Stubbs is great as Aunt Sally although she treats poor Worzel appallingly.

it has lost a lot of its colour so the result is not so nice as expected but none the less it was still a reminder of how good british shows for children are

Great memories and great for now-a-days "pesky" kids!

I am now 30 and Worzel Gummidge was my favorite program as a child ao could not resist having another watch. Not only are the stories as good now as they were then the moral to the stories are right on. Aunt Sally is even more horrible to Worzel than I remember!

I introduced it to my 9 year old Step-Daughter and she loves and watches it over and over and has perfected Worzeleez and The Scarecrow hop!

A cup'o tea an'a slice o' cake....

Pertwee in a magnificent role. This series was great. Period. The fact that it looks a bit grainy (due to its age and probably poor storage) just adds to its charm. Geoff Baildon is also fab in his role of The Crowman. All the acting is great (espec. the late and lately great Charlotte Coleman) and if you remember this being good as a wee child in short pants, then you'll think it's even better as an adult. And Una Stubbs really deseved a bafta or something for her work on this. Brilliant!!!!! AND, if you have kids on the premises, they'll lap it up just as you did two decades before. You just can't keep a classic down, you know.....

Worzel Gummidge - Series 1
Review date: 2002-06-24 Rating: 8 out of 10

Worth every penny.

Watching Worzel Gummidge again brings back all my childhood memories from when I was a young lad.

There is a whole generation of youngsters out there who have never heard of Worzel Gummidge and they simply don't know what they are missing.

My 5-year-old daughter remained glued to the T.V screen for all 7 episode's and this DVD hardly ever leaves my DVD player.

My only grumble is the DVD still has the original TV footage which is sometimes a little grainy and the colours are somewhat washed out (hence the 4 *'s).

A must for anyone with younger children and there is plenty of adults who will love this DVD too.
