"Tell The Lucky Lady That She Is Guaranteed A Steak Dinner"!
Review date: 2008-09-26 Rating: 10 out of 10

We've all seen this classic episode by now.
After witnessing the results that a dating agency has brought to the local street cleaner Trigger,Derek(Del Boy) Trotter decides to join the same dating agency and is matched up with an 'actress' named Raquel. They meet at Waterloo Station.'This is like a scene from my favourite film 'Brief Encounter' suggests Raquel to which a confused Del replies 'Yeah,I loved the bit when the space ship lands'!
Whilst dining Raquel states that she loves the works of Shaw (George Bernard) but Del mistakenly thinks that she means Sandy Shaw and hilariously starts singing the chorus of 'Puppet On A String'!
Meanwhile Del's younger brother Rodney plucks up the courage to ask barmaid 'nervous' Nerys out on a date but while playing the tough guy he gets into trouble with a local gang and they get chased around Peckham in the famous yellow Robin Reliant.
The highlight of the episode is Uncle Albert's birthday party at The Nags Head.Del Boy decides to hire a strip-o-gram for the occasion but the laughter turns to surprise and shock as everybody realises the identity of the strip-o-gram (witness Rodney's expression as it changes from hilarity to concern,it's a brilliant and touching moment.)
In my opinion the late 1980's was 'Only Fools And Horses' best period and this 1988 Christmas Special will always be my favourite episode. It is probably John Sullivan's finest hour, the scriptwriting, characters and particularly the acting by David Jason,Nicholas Lyndhurst,Buster Merryfield,Tessa Peake Jones and Roger Lloyd Pack is almost flawless throughout and the end twist is genius.

Review date: 2007-03-14 Rating: 10 out of 10

this 1988 special is the first time we meet racquel who would go on to become dels significant other as he called her in later years, del meets her when he joins a dating agency and his interview is hilarious to say the least,he goes on to state 'tell the lucky applicant that she is guaranteed a steak dinner'.
The episode like all the greats is filled with a snappy script including dels infamous struggle with the french language which he thinks he understands when he doesnt and this includes the celebrations of alberts 68th birthday and all that goes wrong with that, classic.

Make sure you make a date with this

Only Fools and Horses done it again i was about 8 weeks old when this first was on the air how could i possibly remeber i see it a few years ago back in 1998 i think and got the dvd what a bargain this has to rank as one of the best episodes of fools and horses ever it has everything Rodny as James Dean taking Nervy Nerious for a cruise being chased by yobs and Del Durval a world bussinessman gettin calls from his head office in new york whislt dinning with Racquel.
Though picture quality does differ sometimes i felt
but the episode is a 64 carrot gold diamond.

One of the best Christmas specials from the Trotters in the series!
Having found his 'actress' of a girlfriend, Del boy thinks hes found his perfect partner...until its time for the little suprise at uncle Albert's birthday party!
And not to forget Rodney (the James Dean look) and the 3 wheeled van bing chased around Peckham, with nervous Nerris as his date!
But who could forget that gem of a finale with Del and the coppers?... need i say more?
A laugh a minute sitcom, and not called a classic for nothing!

Dates.

A very funny special which falls short of a 5* rating only because I found To Hull and Back & the Jolly Boys Outing consistently funnier. Don't hesitate to buy this though as it has the classic policewoman finale! As close to 5* as it gets.
