Amazon.co.uk Review
Leave it to the Chairman of the Board to rope in a great director for the first Rat Pack movie, Ocean's Eleven. Lewis Milestone (All Quiet on the Western Front) did indeed direct this 1960 caper movie starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop; but the results now seem like more of a historical artefact than a good piece of entertainment. The tone of the film is curiously serious--much more so than Steven Soderbergh's fluffy 2002 remake--one somehow expected that the Rat Pack would have made a more buoyant first picture. But it is something to see these guys together, if only for reasons of nostalgia.--Tom Keogh, Amazon.com
I wish I could give it 5.

If any movie deserves 5 stars it's this one but it just doesn't reach it. A Very good film with a good cast but the newer version just has the edge on it. What I loved about this movie was that it was different from the 2001 version. It was not as centred on Danny Ocean which is definately a good thing. I did however miss Eliot Gould, A fantastic Actor who I am glad got in on the new movie. This film has a slightly better plot line and a greater sense of why the people did this and why they all wanted to. The film also does not end in the Hero wins his girl fasion which is nice but it does make a nice change. What makes thn new one better is that it runs so smoothly and it has you fooled till the last second.
Buy both and buy them now they are both fantastic movies and are worth every penny.

ok,so its not the best movie in the world but...Review date: 2002-03-25 Rating: 8 out of 10Yep,it's purely a vehicle for the Rat-Pack,a little drawn out,but if you're a fan of Sinatra and the boys, then this is a must. The new version has been described as slick and sexy, well, these guys CREATED the mould.Filmed in the days when men were men,and the stars weren't film actors but true movie stars (there's a difference),this film oozes class and style which was not manufactured or created to do so.Sure,it's not p.c,slightly chauvanistic, and the plot is lacking slightly, but just sit back and watch the guys do what they do best naturally. For me,one of the film's highlights is Dean Martin crooning 'aint that a kick in the head'.The Rat Pack and a timewarp of the 1960s and Las VegasReview date: 2002-03-10 Rating: 6 out of 10Originally set up by Sinatra to provide his Rat Pack with a wild time whilst "working" in Vegas, most of thisa file was shot in "one Take" scenes as Sinatra and Co.wanted to get back to the tables.A must see if you you plan to buy the new George Clooney version of the same film (and almost the same story), as the comparisons with the original heist on the Flamingo, the Desrt Inn, The Sands etc, with the fantastic Bellagio, MGM Grand etc is interesting.
See both movies, and visit Las Vegas. All are a must!!!
