Flawless, true comedy
Review date: 2006-12-20 Rating: 10 out of 10
This is probably the funniest film I have ever seen. There are so many twists to the plot, so many brilliant performances, it would be impossible to list them. All I can say is - watch this film! It is totally brilliant in every way.

A passable re-make of a classic Ealing Comedy?Review date: 2006-04-07 Rating: 6 out of 10The film is amusing and has 2 good central characters in DeVito and Midler; if you enjoyed it try the classic Ealing Comedy - "Too Many Crooks" which was surely the inspiration for this film. The peerless Terry-Thomas plays a self made, womanising, millionaire tax dodger who refuses to buy back his wife from George Cole's incompetent criminal gang (including Sid James & Bernard Bresslaw) His wife takes over and gets her revenge and his money. The court scene at the end is very funny. Please watch both and compare!A great movie, with non-stop hilarity!Review date: 2005-05-06 Rating: 10 out of 10Sam Stone (played by Danny DeVito), millionaire women's clothing mogul, is tired of his fat, irritating wife Barbara (Bette Midler), and is ready to murder her. But, when he finds out that she has been kidnapped, and will be murdered if anything goes wrong, all of his dreams have come true. Ken Kessler (Judge Rienhold) and his wife Sandy (Helen Slater) were ripped off by Sam, and figure that by kidnapping Barbara, and getting Sam's money that they would be even, but they wouldn't hurt a fly. Sam's mistress Carol (Anita Morris) has a boy toy of her own and wants to get her hands on Sam's money. Also, there's a cold-blooded murderer stalking L.A. and he could be anywhere. Oh oh, this could get complicated...and hilarious! This is a great movie! Created by Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker, this offbeat movie is just as funny as their other hits, Airplane and The Naked Gun, but has a more solid storyline. I loved the characters and the non-stop hilarity, and have watched this movie many times over the years.
Now, I must mention that this movie is rated R for a reason. There are numerous "adult" scenes (though no nudity) and a good deal of swearing. So, if you are going to watch this movie with the whole family, you'll have to stand by the fast forward button.
But, that said this is a great movie, with non-stop hilarity! If you are looking for a side-splitting movie, then look no further. Buy this movie!
"I've been kidnapped by K-Mart." Review date: 2002-12-06 Rating: 10 out of 10Sam Stone (Danny DeVito) is contemplating dispatching his rich (Plump) wife Barbara (Bette Midler) and her little dog (Muffy) too.
Before Sam can execute his plan Barbra is kidnapped by Huey (Judge Reinhold) and Dewey (Helen Slater); and is spirited away to a bargain basement.
Sandy Kessler (Helen Slater) of "The secret of My Success" (1987) fame, wants revenge on Sam Stone for stealing her idea of a spandex mini-skirt.
Police Commissioner Benton (William G. Schilling) gets the URGE. Carol played by the late Anita Morris, of "Radioland Murders" (1994) fame, wants to extricate the ransom from Sam. Bill Pullman of "Sibling Rivalry" (1990) fame has to do the deed. Bill Pullman plays a real dufus and the police contemplate just shooting him.
Will bill Pullman be able to pull off the perfect kidnapping or will he get caught clowning around?
Worth repeated viewing.

The film is about a business man, Sam, whose wife is kidnapped by Ken and Sandy who want revenge on Sam for stealing there savings. Once his wife learns that he doesn't care about her release she befriends the kidnappers. Starring Bette Midler. Wonderfully Witty.
