I say with out pride or shame, that I know the british criminal world more than the average man in the street does. Recently, I got the chance to watch all lot of these british gangster movies and thought most of them weren't up to scratch. This however, was one that did. I reckon the people who made this have spent sometime in this world and it screams through.
If anyone wants an insight into this world I'd recommend it, as it is a lot more truthful and honest than the rest.
Good work.

More real than mostReview date: 2003-06-03 Rating: 8 out of 10Without exposing too much and I promise this is not said with pride or as a boast. I have been exposed to villians most of my adult life and so feel I know this world more than most. Very recently I have been able to catch up on the recent emergence of 'brit gangster films' and without a doubt most have been crap, neither true to the world or accurate on any account.
While this is not perfect, it is a damn sight more authentic than the rest I've seen. It doesn't glamourise criminals or their violence and it does have a heart. It's also littered with too many criminal in-jokes, names, places etc, for it to have been written by someone who hasn't at been apart of this thing.
If you find it nasty or offensive, then it's because this life is.
Out of DepthReview date: 2003-03-26 Rating: 2 out of 10My reaction was not so much "another Brit Gangster Movie" but "another poorly directed and clunkily written heap of mockney claptrap". Abysmal and unpleasant. I'm only giving it one star because Amazon reviews don't seem to accept giving no stars at all.out of depthReview date: 2001-11-22 Rating: 10 out of 10A gritty realistic true story of a young man who dabbles and becomes entangled in London's underworld.I won't spoil a gripping end to the best British gangland film since Get Carter.Knocks spots off Lock Stock.Go see for yourself.Well worth buyingA tragic tale of loyalty, violence and jealousyReview date: 2001-11-20 Rating: 8 out of 10Oh God not another, brit gangster film. But possibly the biggest shock is that it's a good one. Based on a real story the director appears to have made the decision to place it firmly in a stylised world that for me only enhances the impact of the ending and it's subsequent message. Some great acting, some iffy acting but over all the strength of the story carries you through. Personally I defie anyone to not be engrossed in this engaging, intelligent, flawed film.
And it's loaded with extras, including director's and producer's commentry, interviews with the cast.
Well worth checkng out, just don't expect the emptiness of a Lock stock.
