Top of their game
Review date: 2006-12-29 Rating: 10 out of 10

This DVD shows an extremely talented band working at their very best. As an earlier reviewer has said, you can leave this DVD running and enjoy the whole lot, despite the inteview clips interspersed with the action and the switching betwen venues. Surprisingly that doesn't affect the DVD and it has the feel of one concert anyway. The different atmospheres between the stadium bash of Maine Road and the (comparatively) more intimate surrounding of Earl's Court (an indoor venue) is interesting. Also, unlike some DVDs, after each interview clip you get the whole track in performance, not edited as is sometimes the case. The sound quality is good and the intensity of the performance is astonishing, particularly as Liam Gallagher never looks as if he gives two hoots about what he's doing. Actually he's well on the money, delivering outstanding vocals over the band's solid backing. The opener, the instrumental "Swamp Music" is superb and the following "Acquiesce" is delievered with an astonishing intensity. Both tracks come from "The Masterplan", the album made up of B Sides and supposed rejects from earlier albums. The bowing before the image of Lennon at the end of "Live Forever" is cheesy but at the same time moving and born out of a genuine respect. You can't knock them for that. Furthermore, the band's actual musicianship is often overlooked. Forget the attitude and the posturing. These blokes can play. End of.

A (possibly) irrelevant observation is how uncool (and even nerdy) band members Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan and Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs look in comparison to the distinctive and iconic Gallaghers. The former is geeky and has a child-like voice and demeanour, while the latter is balding and looks in his mid-forties. Yeah I know, it's irrelevant.

AN AMZING GIG! BEST LIVE ACT OF THE 90's!
Review date: 2004-03-05 Rating: 10 out of 10

This is an amzing dvd. The performance is amazing, it was recorded at Maine Road, Manchester and Earls Court London each in 1996. Their performance level is so high and it is no suprise that they are titled by some as the greatest live band ever. All the songs on this DVD are great including a wonderful accoustic performance of 'Morning Glory' by Noel gallagher. Other classics include 'Live Forever' as they play this they have photos of all legendary musicians up on the back of the stage, as the mighty John lennon appears the whole crowd applaud and Liam bows down to one of the best musician of the 20th century, But never mind the beatles, that was then, this is now, Oasis, amazing live performance. Only drawbacks are a lack of special features and it can get annoying when switching between venues, but there are some cool interviews in between so it dosen't really matter. Some masterpieces such as 'wonderwall' and chart topping 'some might say' and 'dont look back in anger' are played superbly! BUY IT!

The greatest oasis gigs... ever
Review date: 2002-09-07 Rating: 10 out of 10

In terms of the band's energy and 'mad-4-it' levels, none of the gigs they have done could ever match the truly magnificent performances at Maine road and Earls court. The conglomeration of Liam's harsh, rusty vocals and Noel's over-reverbed, painfully catchy electric guitar solo's provides the stuff that only legends are capable of producing. Maine road encapsulated the feeling of brit-pop euphoria that ran rife through the 40,000 strong crowd. Earls Court, one of the largest indoor gigs in Europe, in which seats had to be removed to cater for the 20,000 mad-4-it punters, could not have been a more appropriate expression of just how big the band were at the time. This DVD intertwines songs from both gigs and also includes brief interviews with the members. Noel's acoustic performance of Morning Glory at Earls court is simply not to be missed. Any devout oasis fan will add this to their oasis paraphernalia. A truly amazing DVD.

The second installment for all Oasis fans
Review date: 2001-11-02 Rating: 10 out of 10

There and Then was released in conjunction with the bands Be Here Now tour (which was excellent, i was there). The boys blast out all the old faithfuls along with their, new at the time, 'Champage Supernova' plus much much more. A must for all true Oasis fans.
This DVD is a mixture of several gigs including Main Road and Earls Court, and therefore changes venue between songs, which can be slighty annoying however it is Oasis... and it is great !!
