Synopsis
It sounded pretty kushti. Fifteen grand to collect some diamonds from Amsterdam for Boycie and Abdul - with just a couple of snags. There's some dodgy geezer called Van Cleef at the Dutch end, Chief Inspector Slater and his boys in blue back home and the small matter of a bloody great customs hall in the middle. So, when Del and Rodders accidentally end up in Hull, a brilliant idea enters the Trotter mind - why not sail across themselves? After all, Amsterdam "ain't all that far - in the right direction." Surely with an old sea dog like Uncle Albert at the helm it'll be plain sailing.
classic

released in 1985 and also the first of the feature length episodes,to hull and back is the real deal in terms of lovely jubbly brilliance,a real classic that is packed with classic moments and the episode is just so watchable and repeated viewing take nothing away from this 22 year old classic.
The story involves del and rodney and albert heading to amsterdam to obtain diamonds on behalf of boycie and an associate, and the police are aware of something going down so they are on the look out for those involved in the deal so del decides that if airports arent safe then they will sail across with the help of uncle albert.
The show is filled with key moments in only fools folklore such as rodney chasing after del in the three wheel van, denzel losing his mind as he keeps seeing del in places he shouldnt and del and rodney and albert running from the police when it isnt the police, this is a 64 carrot diamond episode in all ways.

My Favorite EpisodeReview date: 2005-04-09 Rating: 10 out of 10When this episode was first transmitted i didnt get to see it
But im glad i decided to buy it on DVD in the end.
This episode was classic Only fools and had not yet gotten bogged down with the sentimental eye wash that started to creep in in the later episodes.
When del had got to hull in the back of denzils lorry and he looked at the boats YOU KNEW right there who was going to drive the boat...
I found myself laughing till i ached the moment good ole uncle albert stepped off the train with his old navy kit bag on his shoulder and it was obvious that Alberts navy experiences were going to be put to the test.
This has to be my favorite episode even though there has been funnier feature lengths since.
Maybe its because Albert is basicaly the hero in this one and i have a soft spot for him.
During the war!!!!One of the best episodesReview date: 2005-03-30 Rating: 10 out of 10This feature length episode of Only Fools and Horses was first broadcast in 1985. It benefits greatly from the increased budget, given to the programme thanks to the then BBC controller, Michael Grade, who realised just how good this series was. When To Hull and Back was shown on Christmas Day that year, it was actually put opposite its ITV rival, Minder. At a time when many people did not have access to a video recorder, it came down to a choice between Del or Arthur, it was Del who won. From this point, Only Fools and Horses occupied the position of the nations favourite comedy for the next 15 years.
The first of the feature length specials, Hull and Back is also the best. Many of the series memorable supporting cast are present, including Trigger, Mike, and with larger roles than usual, Boycie and Denzil. Boycie basically enroles Del, with the help of Rodney and Uncle Albert. to smuggle some diamonds for him from Amsterdam to England, offering to pay him fifteen thousand for his troubles. However ofcourse events do not go to plan, and Del ends up travelling to Hull, following a meeting in the back of Denzils lorry, with Boycie and his associate Abdul. There are some great moments in the episode, Triggers misguided attempt to chat a woman up in the Nags Head, Del hiring a boat to take him to Holland, and then asking a worker on an oil rig for directions. Boycie is also very funny, particularly when he has to lie to some customers in his garage, about why he has just had a phonecall about diamonds from Del, when his naive assistant loudly stated who is on the phone and why. We also see the return of the bent copper Roy Slater, as memorably played by Jim Broadbent, a one time choice for the rolew of Del.
As with all Only Fools dvds, this does however lack extras.'Robin Hood'Review date: 2004-10-24 Rating: 10 out of 10Superb episode. Full of funny moments from start to finish. My favourite bit HAS TO BE when Del jumps on the boat singing away..."Robin Hood, Robin Hood"
One never to be missed - Buy it Now!!!Review date: 2003-01-22 Rating: 10 out of 10This episode is one of my favourites and that is from someone who is a true fan of the show. The review by Amazon doesn't do it justice, Del would not be amused! The comedy is classic Only Fools and you just get it from start to end, there are no slow parts. The supporting cast as ever is superb, and Uncle Albert comes into his own! Just watching Uncle Albert navigate his way out of Hull's harbour is enough, let alone trying to get it to Holland and back! It doesn't get any better and on DVD we have it for ever more. Enjoy.
