I know this is an often used reviewer's cliché, but this film is one of those lovely overlooked cinematic gems that deserve much more recognition. The ensemble cast are all uniformly excellent. Holly Hunter has never been more appealing, radiant or sexy as the gentle eye of this thanksgiving family storm. If you have a large complex typical family I'm sure you will find many lovely similar details and quirks in sympathy with your own. Jodie Foster directs with a genuine warmth and positivism for her subjects. This film is a joyous and life affirming journey about modern life and relationships.
