Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is ample proof that not all sequels suck. Sometimes they're even better than the original. It is the future. Society has at last solved all its major problems, thanks to amiable lunkheads Bill and Ted and the inspiring music of their band, Wyld Stallyns. Only one man is dissatisfied with the way things have turned out, the evil De Nomolos (Joss Ackland). In an effort to change the future, De Nomolos sends evil Bill and Ted robots back in time to prevent the real Bill and Ted from winning a pivotal Battle of the Bands. What follows is a spirited journey through the afterlife as Bill and Ted try to rescue their girlfriends, save the future, and, oh, yeah, learn how to play the guitar.

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey swings easily between childish and clever humour, and is good at both: a Bergman reference is quickly followed by an equally funny bit about Death's stinky feet. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter seem happy to be reprising their roles and even manage to add funny spins on Evil Robot Bill and Ted. William Sadler very nearly steals the movie as Death, playing both his wounded dignity and budding desire to be funky to a T. As if that weren't enough, George Carlin returns as Rufus and Pam Grier does a cameo just for the hell of it. --Ali Davis, Amazon.com


A good natured sequel

In the sequel to the brilliant Bill and Ted's excellent adventure, Bill and Ted are under threat from the future, as the evil Chuck De Nomolos sends two evil robots, disguised as Bill and Ted to earth to kill human Bill and Ted, in order to change the future.

In a great comedy pairing, Winter and Reeves excel to deliver delicious humour to the audience in this entertaining sequel. Though lacking the sharpness of the first, Bogus Journey still has the great catchphrases and dialogue from the leading pair, not to mention an hilarious performance by William Sadler, who brings a humorous side to the figure of depth, the grim reaper. Watch for the games sequences, the best moment in the entire film, but one of many great techniques used to justify the genre.

Though still packed with humour, this film has a more dramatic film towards it, with stakes being more serious and situations more risky.

This gives the film great dimension and another loveable feature.

The creators also stretch the boundaries of the fantasy genre and the use of realism, with hell and heaven being heavily symbolic and present in the plot. The fantasy genre is again spot on with the use of that amazing time travelling machine, though again somewhat confusing at points with the use of timing, and objects and situations being placed before it happens in the present, as is evident in the final couple of scenes.

The first watch I hated this sequel, but the second time was a real joy as I appreciated the jokes and story more, and though the jokes and plot aren't as strong as its predecessor, Bogus Journey has enough feel good motives, jokes and a fairly steady plot to make it a good natured family film.

Two years on from the original and we are into the nineties. Grunge has taken over from hair metal, and some intelligence has been injected back into rock music. Therefore the antics of slackers Bill and Ted do not have the same impact as they had in their first movie. However, this is still a worthy sequel, and a funny movie.

In the future, the music of Bill and Ted has led to world peace, but a maniacal villain decides that if he can go back to before Bill and Ted were famous and kill them, he can change the future thus preventing their music from being heard. He creates two robot versions of Bill and Ted who quickly kill the humans and take over their lives. If the robots mess up the Battle of the Bands contest, the future will be sealed. Meanwhile Bill and Ted find themselves in Hell, their eternities going to be spent living a constant ironic punishment. This can be seen as a metaphor for the decisions youth must make- should we be forced to choose one path and follow it for the rest of our lives? Like the first film, the theme of choices, and what to do with your life is prominent here. Bill and Ted however realise the alternative- Defeat Deat at Chess, and return to the land of the living once more. This they do, and return to earth, via Heaven, to take back their lives, and save the world. Death comes along too.

The film has many moments of humour, lots of one liners and keeps the charm of the first outing. Yes it is all still very simple, with the message that music can heal the world being a little child-like and dated. However, if you read the message as being-music is escapism, freedom, then it works better than most other films. Reeves and Winter again are perfect for their roles, Death is excellent, and Rufus is as cool as always. As with the first film, it is not as stupid as it sounds, with many references to past works of art and literature mirrored beside modern works of music. An entertaining film whichever way you choose to look at it.

The DVD only has a trailer, but as with many others which cost a fiver, you can't ask for more

An Excellent Sequal

If you watched "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure", then you'll be crazy to miss this. Unlike the first film this film isn't a time travel film (allthough time travel is involved in this).

This one is set 3 years later in the year 1991. In Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) were failing history and unless they passed their history report, they'd fail. Luckily a man named Rufus (George Carlin) was sent from the future to ensure that Bill and Ted passed their history report, for their music has brought world peace in the future and their failing their history report would have caused them to seperate.

Bill and Ted passed their history report thanks to Rufus and won themselves girlfriends named Joanna and Elizabeth, who were rescued by Rufus right before they had to marry some royal ugly dudes in the 15th century.

Now three years on they're no better than they were, but that's the least of their worries. In the year 2691 there is one man who cannot stand Bill and Ted, and his name is Chuck Denomolos. He's constructed two evil robot versions of Bill and Ted and dispatches them 700 years into the past on a mission to prevent Bill and Ted's music from ever being heard. Rufus is able to follow them although he is lost in the circuits of time.

Bill and Ted's evil robot versions show up pretending to be their future selves who are there to help him (Ted has a bad feeling about them). Bill and Ted are murdered by their robot selves, and what's to stop the robot Bill and Ted altering the future? Bill and Ted.

Although they're now ghosts and are therefore unheard of unseen by the living, they're still determined to spread the word. After escaping the Grim Reeper (William Saddler) in one of the most hillarious ways, Bill and Ted attempt to spread the message, but ultimately end up in hell, where in the end they are forced to turn to Death for help. Can they stop their evil robot selves? Can they return to their lives and create the peacefull future? Watch and find out.

This is a really good and funny film. Death is without the best character in the film. He's great and makes the film more funny. One of the best scenes is when Bill and Ted play games against Death, always beating him and Death keeps insisting they play him again and again until he's beaten them, but ends up accepting defeat in the end.

You won't regret watching this film. It's a great film, with a superb ending, featuring the soundtrack of Kiss's classic rock song "God Gave Rock and Roll To You". Buy this film now.

A most excellent sequel, dudes!

Once, they made history. Now...they are history. Yep that's right, Bill and Ted are dead!

But don't despair bodacious dudes and dudettes! That's the main part of the story. Chuck De Nomolos has a severe disliking for Bill and Ted and has created evil robot versions of them. The robots kill the duo because "we were programmed to do it and we wanna do it!" and push them off a cliff. But that's not the end of their adventures! The pair have a crazy journey through heaven and hell and play Twister with Death!

So was the movie good? Oh yes it was! It's just as cool and funny as the first film. If you're a fan of 'Wayne's World' you'll love this and the first one

this is an amazing film duders. im not going to tell you about the plot because it sounds really lame but is hilarious. the reaper is sooooo funny. apparantley "the reaping burns a lot of calories". awsome. i once watch this movie 4 times in as many nights it is so great. what makes this film even better is that my all time hero steve vai has written the guitar fills and music for the finale. sweet. if you liked stuff like waynes world then buy this!! (on the other hand if you liked this buy waynes world it is awsome too)
