Review date: 2008-07-09 Rating: 8 out of 10
Not as good as the other three dead films because it had a low budget and romero was not involved but highly enjoyable and fun with some great zombie action bits and i thought it was better than land of the dead which was a huge dissapointment

Best Film EverReview date: 2007-09-07 Rating: 10 out of 10I have to say when i saw this film i was disgusted at how bad the film was, then upon watching the film with my friend it soon became the greatest film ever made. We laughed so much it hurt our body's. In conclusion buy this, bring round your friends & count the mistakes!Title, hmmm. Not a good film.Review date: 2006-11-01 Rating: 4 out of 10I remember picking this up in the bargain bucket two dvds for a £10 watching it when i was about 13 and i have to say it really doesnt do much for a horror fan let alone a zombie fan. At age 13 the film made me laugh , at age 17 i really dnt think id have to much to say about it. I remember the dialogue really was bad, the acting from the teenagers in the van was surely young kids getting whatever work they could and the whole zombie concept is lost in this joke. I remember the openening being rather exciting which isnt bad saying im remembering this film from 4 years ago. Lots of zombies being shot in a field which is fun yes. But to have the name living dead after it is rather a disgrace due to the classic early romero zombie films. Buy to watch and laugh if you can get it cheap, otherwise, turn away.STRAIGHT TO DVD TRASHReview date: 2006-04-28 Rating: 4 out of 10I bought this after it came out because I'm a zombie film fan. After viewing I was disappointed.
What makes this film so bad is mainly the lack of plot. I simply could not figure out what was going on at any point of the film and I'm still confused about what happens in the final 2/3rds. It begins at some point in the past and two law officers hunting zombies. One of these is horror film make up artist Tom Savini, whose amazing five minute performance rolled him to the top of the credit list. That's warning sign number one. There is a zombie named Abbott Hayes who is allegedly the undead manifestation of a dead child molester (warning sign number 2). Hayes' role is difficult to ascertain because the events and settings in this film are so random, but he evidently orders other zombies around. Tom Savini dies, but they find a number of local children that the zombie had kidnapped.
Fast forward to present day, and the children have grown up into teenagers. They are riding around in a beat up van ruminating on the legacy of Abbott Hayes when the king zombie himself strolls infront of the van in broad daylight, having emerged from the woods for no apparent reason. They swerve and go off a cliff and die. Abbott walks like a crazy dance put in slow motion - there is no other way to describe it.
After this it gets confusing but to summarize, I can say that the kids come back as zombies and that the heroine Laurie and several other people lock themselves in the town diner, and the zombies attack. The film then ends abruptly without any resolution and clue as to just what was going on.
This straight to video film represents the type of film that should have been left in the 20th century. It was made in 2001. The acting is bad enough but the sound is horrific. Most of the voices seem far away or muffled and you can't follow what they are talking about. As I have already mentioned there is no plot to speak of. The cast is seriously a group of college kids who thought it would be cool to be in a bad film and get a create of beer each for their efforts. The special effects are on par with zombie films that were out in the 70s, with all the squirting red dye and gray paint. It's been my experience in that most zombie films are essentially the same in premise - zombies come around for various plot reasons , society as we know it collapses and the survivors have existentialists interludes between zombie killings in which they tackle serious questions about God, life etc. This film doesn't really have any of that since zombie attacks seem to be a recurring problem in this town, but yet it fails with many of the other cliches that make zombie films good. The bad acting, editing, plot and the what if teenagers became zombies? idea because they had a small budget and no new ideas combine to make this a crap-tastic movie experience.
Thank you for eading my review. Absolute rubbishReview date: 2006-04-17 Rating: 2 out of 10The only reason I bought this DVD is because it was cheap. I am a huge fan of the living dead series and other zombie related films and considering Tom Savinis name was attached to it I thought it couldn't be too bad despite the fact that I hadn't heard of this particular one. This film will go down in infamy as being one of the most amateur films ever made. I think the makers may have blown their whole budget just getting in Tom Savini for 10 minutes because the rest looked like it took about £2 to make. The camerawork was embarassingly shoddy and the acting was even worse. I don't think you necessarily need a big budget to make a decent horror film. In fact some of the better horror films have been made on a shoestring (I cite Halloween as a main example). The head zombies make up looked okay but it did tend to get on your nerves that everytime he was there even in the background there would be this Grrrrrrrrr noise that would denote he was there. I was surprised to see that this film was made in 2001. By the way it looked it seemed about 20 years old. The only good thing about this film is that it wasn't that long but truthfully this film should never have been made its that bad.
