A movie comes along once in a while which if you are in the right frame of mind to absorb, can change and benefit the way you view your day to day life on this planet.
"Defending your Life" is just such a movie. It tackles the world of the afterlife and tries in an almost fly on the wall documentary style, to unravel what holds mystery for many peoples daily existence, indeed, why are we here?. The movie is worth note on many levels the excellent performances by Albert Brooks a highly under-rated true genius of entertainment. This is one of Alberts earlier movies following on from "Lost In America" with Julie Haggerty. Another must see movie.
Merryl Streep is also excellent and a cameo from Shirley MacLean in THE PAST LIVES PAVILION gives credit of a physic nature to an already well rounded and considering the subject matter grounded script.
It has been deleted from most stockrooms so if you find a copy grab it and take it as a sign that you are one of the blessed ones.
