Amazon.co.uk Review
Cliffhanger was a 1994 comeback of sorts for action hero Sylvester Stallone, this time thanks to director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2) and some spectacularly rugged and vertigo-inducing, high-mountain terrain. The opening sequence alone delivers what the title promises, and there's an extraordinary airplane stunt that was later reprised, with modifications, in Air Force One. Stallone, looking as tough and craggy as the mountains themselves, is a rescue climber who finds himself going after a gang of crooks (headed by John Lithgow in his bad-guy mode) who've hijacked a US Treasury plane and crash landed in the Rockies with millions of bucks. Outrageous action-packed, snow-packed and scenery-packed chase sequences (featuring whirring helicopters, whooshing skis, popping gunfire and clanging pitons that earned the movie Oscar nominations for sound and sound editing) abound. --Jim Emerson, Amazon.com

Come for the scenery, stay for the storyReview date: 2008-04-05 Rating: 8 out of 10Cliffhanger is a wonderful piece of on-location cinema. Admittedly it is not filmed in the Rockies as it is set but rather a mountain range in Italy, but you get the idea! The film has some wonderful visuals throughout that have been mastered wonderfully onto DVD. The story is quite original and the acting is good to go with it, the soundtrack also is fantastic. As one reviewer has mentioned this has been edited somewhat to remove some of the gorier violence which is a bit of a shame, however overall it is a fantastic DVD to add to the "action" section of your collection. Super-charged, heart-racing, suspense-filled action thrill rideReview date: 2007-12-08 Rating: 8 out of 10There is an avalanche of talent in "Cliffhanger." Stallone is an unstoppable force and incredible action hero. After watching "Cliffhanger," I'm convinced that Stallone was the only man for this job. Stallone had the fire in his eyes for this part that told me he means business. Only true action stars have the fire I saw; furthermore, I was fascinated with the strength, power and conviction with which he took on the role.
Another reason I enjoyed "Cliffhanger" was the writing because it contained unbelievable action sequences, a man dealing with redemption and dialogue is awesome. I was impressed to see that Stallone also co-wrote the script because he really has a knack for what action fans want.
"Cliffhanger" is a super-charged, heart-racing, suspense-filled action thrill ride that you should take because at the end it will leave you asking for more.Go sly Review date: 2007-12-08 Rating: 10 out of 10Go Sly, its not your birthday but you are going to make a mindless but very entertaining action flick like it was your birthday, yes your gonna survive situations that no man actually could like it was infact your birthday, god i love this huge man, hes strong and heroic and id love to share a bed with him, i saw a man in the Light cinema in leeds that was bigger, yes i admit it, but was he climbing a 1000ft cliff in seb-zero temperatures in a figure hugging T-shirt??? no he wasnt, hats off to Sly Stone, the man, the myth the ACTOR!!!!FEAR OF HEIGHTS?Review date: 2007-09-26 Rating: 10 out of 10Wow in the opening scene, on a wire, suspended over an abyss. I was on the edge of my seat as Sly Stallone tried to save his friend's girlfriend.
Sly is a mountain rescue climber and is held captive by a group of bad guys, looking for cases of treasury cash, heisted cleverly in mid-air and dropped during an explosion. Sly and his buddy are used to guide the group to the homing signals of the cases. Sly escapes and evades his captors in a series of brilliant climbing scenes.
If you're ever cold again, just wear a vest, it worked in the film!!
Cracking good film and recommeded fully.
