Amazon.co.uk Review
A massively underrated action thriller which kept Schwarzenegger occupied between blockbusters, Commando may be one of the last shoot-out films ever to have real characters in it. Not, of course, that they're anything other than stereotypes, but they're painted with such detailed, positive strokes that it's impossible not to relate to them. Arnie plays a retired military special-ops officer whose daughter (played with an expert balance of cute/feisty by Alyssa Milano) is kidnapped by the baddest of bad guys, who'll only hand her back as and when he's assassinated a tiresome banana-republic president on their behalf. Needless to say, Arnie is deeply annoyed by this, rescues the moppet single-handed amid more bullets and explosions than you can shake a stuntman's pay cheque at, and... well, why spoil the fun by revealing any more? Co-star Rae Dawn Chong gets some nice one-liners as the innocent bystander who gets caught up in the mayhem. The DVD comes with no additional features at all, but who needs 'em anyway? --Roger Thomas
Laugh-out-loud bad

Did you notice in "the bloodbath scene" bullets are being deflected away from Arnold by ROSE BUSHES??
The last time i saw that miracle i was watching the mostly excellent Miami Vice season 1 "No Exit" with Don Johnson.
Anyhoo, who can forget that all the while Matrix is laying waste to the entire island his daughter is within earshot, listening to her father murder hundreds of people. And then she watches him mutilate Bennett right in front of her eyes. Then it's all topped off with one of my favourite lines of all time. When the general asks him, "Leave anything for us," Matrix aka Ben Disdale, with daughter in his arms, replies, "Just bodies." And then he looks down and smiles at her as she beams proudly..
Genius. Recomended viewing for all the family.

First class bullet festival Review date: 2008-09-22 Rating: 10 out of 10This is 80's shoot 'em up heroics at their best. Arnie is perfect as a one man army in this nun blasting piece of action cinema. It's daft but superb fun. directors cut region 1Review date: 2008-08-09 Rating: 8 out of 10Great fun, bought the region 1 version director's cut, as far as I can tell this has not been cut like the other versions . Lots of blood, and throw away violence, perfect for hangovers.Blu Ray release is also cutReview date: 2008-04-30 Rating: 6 out of 10"Commando" has been released on Blu Ray but dont hold your breath because, yep, its been cut and they havent even bothered remastering it so hence grainy picture quality. Why release it in Blu ray if the pictures crap and its heavily censored.20th century Fox just dont listen do they.
Would give it 5 stars if it was as it should be, uncut remastered and with extras.cut the movie?Review date: 2008-03-14 Rating: 6 out of 10this review would get 5/5 if they hadnt cut this movie. when you see what can get released in new movies and what is cut in older films, then you have to ask yourselves "who wants to see the uncut version"? ME for one. i want to see the movies i grew up with, in the early & mid eighties when people would kill people in films and some real life psycho wouldnt blame it on the media.this is one of arnies best films (after The Terminator, Terminator 2, Predator) give it a go, it stands up next to lethal weapon easily as one of the best action film of the eighties. "LET OFF SOME STEAM, BENNETT!"
