This is even funnier if you are familiar with the welsh, Gogs is made in south wales and is the welsh slang for our northern brethren, which is why it's all in grunts and pointing ;) Its not very well known outside wales which is a real shame. I've never met a real life gog I didn't like and these one are even better! I don't actually have the DVD yet, just ordered, my taped from tv copy is very badly worn now...

Great Claymation

This DVD has all the episodes of The Gogs. They are hilarious plastercene characters and well done in stop frame animation.
It is about a family of cavemen, and the troubles they encounter. They don't speak, but grunt, burp and fart a lot.
Some reviews below have mentioned that there is no main menu, but most DVD remote controls have a 'Top Menu' or 'Title menu' button, which should take you to the main menu.
They are great to watch once in a while, but to watch all at once they can get a bit the same.
I thought the dinosaur in the second episode was especially well animated, and the baby of the family expressions are hilarious.
They have some very funny scenes and well worth a watch!

Meet the ancestors

The two series of short animations and one fairly short animated film are included on this disc and the total running time is almost one and a half hours. I watched the shorts when they were shown by the BBC a few years ago and I taped them. Wore the tape out and looked for a DVD version. The DVD cost quite a lot for quite a long time so I waited and watched my increasingly grainy tape. Now the price is very reasonable indeed and the DVD has the film (which I hadn't seen previously) as well as the two series. All very hilarious. I'm surprised that there aren't a couple of dozen reviews here, as there are for the Wallace and Gromit - 3 Cracking Adventures DVD. It really should be very much more popular than it seems to be. The Gogs are undeniably more crude and earthy (in a toilet rather than a bedroom sort of way) than W & G, so might be thought unsuitable for impressionable children - or at least those who should not be encouraged when it comes to nose-picking and loudly passing wind. But for anyone who enjoys this sort of animation and doesn't mind some added "yuk" factor, it's an absolute treasure. All communication is in grunts, roars, screams and other non-language specific form (punches, blows with a club, pokes with a broom etc) so anyone at all will be able to understand it. And it's made in Wales. Excellent.

Love slapstick? Then you'll love this.

Plasticine violence. Can't beat it.

Gogs was brought out on BBC2 I don't know how long ago but it is a wonderful piece of stupid humour following a family of cavemen and their quest for food and shelter.

People get hit on the head a lot, they get chased a lot and fart a lot. And if you liked the beans scene from Blazing Saddles then you'll like this.

The missing star is because it can be a bit samey - there is limited scope for hitting people with clubs - and the DVD menu is non-existent, meaning that it's appallingly un-userfriendly. You have no idea how many episodes are on there and just have to keep flicking through them all until you find the one that you want.

The wonderful world of GOGS

The brilliance of the comic classic. Bottom with plasticine, Rude and crude.
