Amazon.co.uk Review
Destined for cult status, this provocative thriller offers a grab bag of genres (gangster movie, comedy, sexy romance, crime caper) and tops it all off with steamy passion between lesbian ex-con Corky (Gina Gershon) and a not-so-ditzy gun moll named Violet (Jennifer Tilly), who meets Corky and immediately tires of her mobster boyfriend (Joe Pantoliano). Desperate to break away from the Mob's influence and live happily ever after, the daring dames hatch a plot to steal $2 million of Mafia money. Their scheme runs into a series of escalating complications, until their very survival depends on split-second timing and criminal ingenuity. Simultaneously violent, funny and suspenseful, Boundis sure to test your tolerance for bloodshed but the film is crafted with such undeniable skill that several critics(including Roger Ebert) placed it on their top-10 lists for 1996. --Jeff Shannon

Synopsis
The Wachowskis' ultra-modern update of classic film noir stars Jennifer Tilly as Violet, the voluptuously alluring and well-pampered mistress of mob man Ceasar (Joe Pantoliano). Violet is the kind of woman who can catch any man's eye, but she's more interested in the tough, sexy, new handywoman next door named Corky (Gina Gershon). The two quickly become lovers, and conspire to steal two million of the Mafia's money. The twists and turns that result when things don't go quite as they planned make for a steamy, thrillingly suspenseful, and impressively executed film filled with sly wit, inspired visuals, and terrific performances.
SOOOOO BAD!!!!

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I seriously can't understand why anyone would give this 5 stars! Ok fine, it's good to see a mainstream lesbian film but the main characters are just plain annoying and the plot is ridiculous. I was cringing the whole way through.

A considerable disappointmentReview date: 2008-04-28 Rating: 4 out of 10I found this film a major disappointment. The plot seemed hackneyed and the sexual motif contrived and unnecessary. It seems a low budget enterprise and I cannot imagine how anybody could consider this outstanding, for any given year. And why on earth is it being considered an example of film noir? It has nothing representative of that genre either in style, theme or lighting. Film noir was essentially typical of the B-feature gangster movies of the 40's and early 50's and with some notable exceptions has not survived that period. This film is certainly NOT an exception to that rule!oh myReview date: 2008-01-25 Rating: 2 out of 10this is one of the worst movies I ever saw. Bad actors, stupid story, predictable from the start. If there was something good, sorry I didn't get it.Good story, but by God, rent it first!Review date: 2007-12-19 Rating: 6 out of 10I will first start off by warning people, those of a a delicate disposition should steer clear of this film. Like any film from the Wachowski Brothers it pushes boundries. It is a simple heist film where the two protaginists attempt to steal 2 million dollars from the mafia. Corky (Gina Gershon) is a recently released inmate and Violet (Jennifer Tilly) is a gangsters moll. Violet's mafia lover Ceser (Joe Pantolino) is the man who obtains the money for the mafia, but when he realizes that Violet has betrayed him he goes and hunts for her and whoever (Corky) shi is with with a veiw to killing the both of them. The only thing a reveiwer should mention to anybody wanting to see this is that Violet and Corky are lesbians and there is a scene of strong lesbian activity near the beginning. An some VERY strong violence just after! Obviously it is not the sort of present one wants to give, unless you've vetted it and your pretty damn sure the recipiant will like it! This is one DVD when it cannot stress the importance of renting it FIRST! I consider myself pretty worldly and even this shocked me! 3/4Review date: 2007-12-01 Rating: 6 out of 10The plot can be a bit cliche and blah. The acting isn't.. brilliant but there is a degree of sincerity in it. The sex scene is short but damn hot :P The great thing about it is the (short-lived) tension between the two women especially as one is dating a dangerous (for lack of better word) gangster and finds 'true love' and happiness with this new (very hot) woman, Corky. Also, the fact that at the end, they're still together, that made me smile :) The sexual tension thing, as I mentioned, was pretty short-lived as they sorta get together etc quite quick.. but aye it was a decent watch, little boring though.
