Adam Sandler fans are sure to enjoy this no-brainer comedy, but everyone else is strongly advised to proceed with caution. Before scoring a more enjoyable hit with his 1998 comedy The Wedding Singer, the former Saturday Night Live goofball played Happy Gilmore, a hot-tempered guy whose dreams of hockey stardom elude him. But when he discovers his gift for driving golf balls hundreds of yards, he joins a pro tour to win the prize money needed to rescue his beloved grandma's home from repossession. The trouble is, Happy's not so happy. He's got a temper that frequently flares on the golf course (he even dukes it out with celebrity golfer Bob Barker), but a retired golf pro (Carl Weathers) and a compassionate publicist (Julie Bowen) help him to perfect his putting game and adjust his confrontational attitude. How much you enjoy this lunacy depends on your tolerance for Sandler's loudmouthed schtick and a shocking number of blatant product-placement endorsements, but if you're looking for broad comedy you've come to the right tee-off spot. --Jeff Shannon

Great movie (if you are normal and enjoy FUN)Review date: 2009-01-14 Rating: 8 out of 10When I saw the cover, I thought it's 'golf' and I would probably hate it.
I couldn't stop laughing most of the way through, and Adam Sandler suits the role well. I love the way he can't control his temper and he does it in a 'tongue in cheek', 'slapstick' kind of way which is a perfect contrast to the snobbery of golf. Ben Stiller makes an appearance and when he does... you know about it!!!
It was this film that made me buy other 'Sandler' movies such as 'Mr.Deeds', 'Anger Management', '50 first dates' etc. This one is a long term favourite of mine, and I hope you don't pass it up.Other Sandler films are brilliant, this is astronomical!Review date: 2008-08-14 Rating: 10 out of 10I love this film, I have watched it anything up to 20 times in a row and never ever become bored. I've shown in to many friends, some like comedy, some aren't so fussed, but all of them LOVED this film.
The minute you watch it, you become some kind of Life of Brian type fan, citing it as a classic and able to quote it almost word for word. I have seen most Sandler movies, the utter uselessness of The Waterboy and Little Nicky to the brilliance of The Wedding Singer and Big Daddy, but they never quite compare in my mind, funny as the latter two are. Sandler fan or not, you HAVE to watch this.
Never again will you be able to watch any Sandler film without comparing it to this masterpiece, and without thinking those immortal words..."You eat pieces of sh** for breakfast?!"Happy GilmoreReview date: 2008-03-05 Rating: 10 out of 10this is the best adam sandler film i have seen! the box may not blow you away and catch your eye, but don't be fooled if you want a laugh buy this!THIS IS THE FUNNIEST FILM EVER!!!Review date: 2007-06-04 Rating: 10 out of 10I saw this film at a mates birthday bash and MY GOD it was funny. Adam Sandler was brill and the gags were woven into the story with ease. The story was touching in parts, although sometimes the plot became slightly complicated. Still, an amazing film that would split your sides on any day of the week. Thoroughly reccommended.
