By Jove, Jeeves, you've done it again!
Review date: 2001-06-04 Rating: 10 out of 10

As a life-long devotee of P G Wodehouse's 'Jeeves' stories I was worried that the televised version might not convey the light-hearted and hilarious spirit of the books. I need not have worried. Fry and Laurie are the perfect Jeeves and Wooster and this series perfectly captures both the style and content of the stories. It is very funny, endearing and excellent viewing. If you like period drama you'll love this. If you like P G Wodehouse's novels, you'll love this. If you like Fry and Laurie, you'll love this. Really, it can't miss - it should be compulsory viewing as an antidote to the violence of modern films and dramas.

Review date: 2000-09-28 Rating: 8 out of 10

Fry and Laurie do their finest in this adaption of P. G. Wodehouse old books about the nice but slightly moronic Wooster, assisted by the extremely clever manservant Jeeves. This first series kicks the series of, with the introduction of both characters, and then blasts into problem upon problem, halfly created by Wooster, and subsequently solved by Jeeves again. The humor isn't as direct as we have known Fry and Laurie to do it before. But it is a nice watch, and you will be intrigued by the nice settings and wardrobe from the past. All in all, well worth a place in your Brit Com collection.
