"The James Gang" is a totally charming movie based on the difficult life of the "James" family on the run from police after a series of robberies commited by the family in an attempt to help keep them together. The leading role of "Spendlove jnr" is delightfully played by very talented Darren/David Brownlie, they truly add real life and emotion to this film with a heart touching closing climax to the story. I truly recomend this treasured film - every household should have one!

Well shot and Clever British film. Excellent score.

The James Gang is an interesting exploration into the female psyche. Desperate mother Bernadette carries out a spur-of-the-moment robbery at a Jewellers in London, and this inspires her crime spree across the country. Useless karoake-loving husband Spendlove Senior, inadvertantly provides a series of useless getaway vehicles and eventually deserts his family for the second time. Bernadette and the rest of the James gang are pursued (half-heartedly in the latter half of the film) by a female detective shacked up with Aidan Quinn who plays a minor but amusing role. Artistic undertones about seagulls (!) are introduced into the film from the start. Bernard Butlers excellent score complements the film with highly relevant songs from popular contemporary artists such as the Fun Loving Criminals, Cast and conversely The Cranberries. A Clever and heart rendering twist occurs at the end of the film with the romantic appearence of Spendlove Sr's brother Frank and the apparent death of Bernadette's son Spendlove Jr (Which I wont spoil for you by telling you about it !). Overall, definitely worth a couple of hours of my time.
